the pose is odd…I refer to him by another name…I would be tempted to paint his weapon purple
The big deal about this guy is the animus. Skorne don’t have much in the way of ranged models, but sniping the big guns helps their ranged game tremendously. As the faction options grow the value of this guy and his animus will increase. Arcane precision would be a big deal but extoller solos make it moot. Bottom line: right now he’s lackluster but he opens some interesting doors for future possibilities in the faction.
I disagree with the comments about spamming. Usually two of anything is a lot in a hordes or warmachine list. If I’m spamming anything in Skorne it’s titan gladiators anyway.
Dispite rather weird pose this model looks rather nice.
Must be crap if it’s not worth spamming 5 of them… really? Must agree with Dais. Warmachine / Hordes ain’t 40k. Spamming anything (except maybe Legion Shredders) just isn’t optimal in most lists. It’s about what works well with what, not “This hits hard, take a dozen of them.”
Snipe is handy if you’re including any ranged stuff so this guy is surely worth a go in some lists (RNG 16 on a Cannoneer anyone? RNG 12 on Basilisk’s paralysis?). As with Trollblood Impalers, he’s more about his animus than what he can actually do himself.
As for Arcane Precision, what if your Extoller is dead? or busy buffing someone else (Animus’d Cannoneer again maybe)? Always handy to be able to shoot stealth stuff.
The gun may not be the greatest but as he’s a beast, he can be forced to boost hit/damage, unlike a unit. All this utility for only 5 points… bargain.
