The Kickstarter is now live for John Blanche's new project alongside Harrowhound Miniatures, Paul Hicks, Patrick Masson, Tuomas Pirinen and Thomas Elliott. En Garde - Vanguard is your first chance to dive into this world and game and get your hands on some stunning 54mm miniatures.

John Blanche's En Garde - Vanguard Kickstarter

Set in the baroque sea-faring city of Therae, En Garde is a Low Fantasy setting which comes from the mind of John Blanche. It is a world where sword and pistol masters come together to see which of them can be proven the greatest living (and undead) duellist. The starting point here is focused on a number of named characters from the background of the game.

Mi'lady Carmilla // En Garde

All of the miniatures from this collection have been sculpted by Paul Hicks and Patrick Masson in 54mm scale and you'll be able to pick up one, two or even more of these figures from the collection to use in your games of En Garde or simply just as painting projects for your hobby desk.

Geminiano Caravello // En Garde

Each of the main duellists from the collection will be high-quality resin casts with metal components for the likes of the arms, weapons and other small components. This is to make sure that the components and the miniatures as a whole get to you in a high-quality state without the effects of warping and all sorts settings in amongst the kits.

The Cursed Shambler // En Garde

There is a wonderful array of different miniatures amongst the 54mm collection, showing off all different walks of life that come together to fight in these epic duels. You have fearsome vampire lords and ladies, grizzled pirates and adventurers, swashbucklers, walking corpses and more that find themselves part of the clashes in Therae.

In Blanchian fashion, all of the characters have awesome names and also feature in-depth backgrounds that will get you thinking about their place in the world and who you might want to support when it comes to playing the game later on down the line.

When it comes to diving into the project, you can pledge at different levels to unlock different numbers of miniatures. The lowest pledge level of $35 will get you one of the characters from the range and as you go up, you can introduce more characters into the mix, as well as add-ons like the Tethys Mermaid and at the highest level, the John Weiss miniature (below), which is a great take on Blanche himself, inserted into the world.

The miniature for Johannes "John" Weiss can also be added onto lower-tier pledges for an extra $45 if you'd like to just get your hands on him or as a bonus to one or two of the other figures.

All of the miniatures from the campaign look great as they are but this also might be a good chance for you to start doing some customising and kitbashing of your own. Why not get a couple of the figures and start cutting, chopping, bending and reworking different elements of the miniatures to create unique new creations to use in the game of En Garde when it finally releases? I know there are probably some fans of Inquisitor out there who would love to do something like that.

The team behind the game have also mentioned that if they can crack the $100,000 stretch goal target, then a brand new duellist will be added to the roster and made available to backers as one of those to choose from in their pledges. The more support En Garde gets, the more that will be made possible.
