New 28mm Highlanders Join Bloody Miniatures’ Collection
August 12, 2026 by brennon
Bloody Miniatures are back to expand their collection of 28mm metal miniatures for the 1600s and 1700s with the addition of some fearsome Highlanders looking to knock some heads together on the border in your Historical skirmishes.
The Heids o' the Clan // Bloody Miniatures
These new Scottish miniatures would be great to use as Highland Mercenaries who were known as Redshanks. They fought in Ireland and the Low Countries through to the Jacobite Rising of 1689. They would also slot in nicely as part of the Marquess of Montrose’s Royalist Army of 1644-46 and should be a solid set of figures for all sorts of skirmishes around that period of history.
The first set (above) represents four Highlander chieftains and characters that you could use to lead your band of mercenaries. You also get a piper with the set because you can't have Scottish folk without a piper.
The Redshank Laddies then make up the core of your little warband that you're going to be using.
The Redshank Laddies // Bloody Miniatures
These are your classic Highlanders with the iconic Scottish basket-hilted broadswords and their targes. They look like they'd be really fun to paint, drawing out the character of each of them with some interesting tartan schemes. You've also got that fabulous facial hair to have some fun with.
The Boys from Lochaber are next up.
The Boys from Locaber // Bloody Miniatures
This is a set of four more Highlanders with options to give them either the Lochaber axe or other polearms, which will come on a separate sprue. They could also be used alongside the pikes from The Bloody Pikes set if you wanted to turn them into a unit ready to receive cavalry.
Last but not least, we have The Highland Shotte.

Armed with their muskets and in different poses, reloading, preparing and firing, they are going to be good for offering a little bit of cover for your other Highlander comrades as they charge forward. Just make sure you've got a good shot behind one of these!
A Highland Gathering // Bloody Miniatures
As well as the miniatures, you'll also be able to get a pack of Scottish accessories which will contain Scottish weaponry like pistols, muskets, basket-hilted broadswords and dirks alongside polearms, targes and six heads with bonnets which you can use to personalise your figures.
All of the miniatures that you see here will be available in separate packs or as part of that larger Highland Gathering bundle. You shouldn't have long to wait for them either as they are primed to come out in September!
What do you make of these new Scottish fellows?
