Quick update
Been a bit since I updated this project, crazy thing is I have done mountains of SWL stuff since last update in November but been so busy hobbying that haven’t teally had any time for media, and only in last couple of weeks had any time on computers at all what I have has been work related,
All my original trilogy figures are finished apart from a couple of new releases, and only have two squads of B1 Drones to do to finish my Clone Wars purchases, and I have built those!
A few shots of latest partly completed figures to tide it over till I get some photo time.
Loads more to come, when lighting better.
A Lull in the Fighting part deux
The Sundays effort on the Hobby weekend is the work I’m least happy with, in an effort to save time I did an overall Nuln Oil wash rather than doing an area wash on the darker parts, the overall effect left them a bit grubby, so intend to redo the armour. I also put Agrax Eartshade on their boots to represent walking through the Scarif Jungle.
On returning home I had one last unit of Stormtrooper from my two starter boxes brought two years ago, I had already base coated them with Wrathbone and the Apothecary White, but just didnt fancy more white, so decided having seen some done red on Facebook, plus Gerry’s comments over the weekend. So coated them all over in Blood angels red, then dry brushed them with orange.
After doing the Grey undersuit , Black areas and wpns I pin washed the armour lines and joints with Agrax Earthshade.
Wonder if should make them speed 3 as we all know red ones go faster!!
- Still need to finish bases, but they were a lot quicker to paint not much more than two hours total.
A Lull in the Fighting!
A slow start and the size of game meant only one move was completed. As no one fancied gaming on xmas day or New Years day for some reason , I have a couple of weeks to check and tidy up and review ehat was completed over weekend.
The ShoreTroopers above and DeathTroopers below I’m quite happy with so willl need no more work.
Likewise happy with Tank after my paint rescue at Hobby weekend, may source some decals just to finish it off.
General Veers needed a bit more work on face, mainly highlighting, plus the uniform was too grey, so I did an overall Sepia wash , before and after.
- PThe Wookies fust needed a little more work on the Black Wookies Shield.
Planning and 1st Move
No detailed blow by blow description . The Rebels(Terrorists) were commanded by General Keith, with the Imperial (peacekeepers) commanded by Moffs Kevin and Pete with myself doing Gerry Impressions as Umpire/ reader of the rules ( Warren I need Ewoks !)
Most of the night wes spent preparing at card often through magnifying glasses, before they carefully deployed (Keith/Pete) or just plonked them here (Kevin who still managed to plonk them in effective range)
New and old Toys roll out
Well I’m back from an amazing weekend at OTT HQ, most of time with head down hobbying like mad, funny how at home even if I try I struggle to manage a couple of hours hobbying, but at above 12 hours with only occasional toilet and refeshment breaks is no problem at all.
Well I’m home and for 1st gaming night post return guess what Legion.
Rather than a standard game went for a more narrative style game, which doesn’t exactly follow cannon or the game set up rules in that it has Krennic and Luke Skywalker meeting on a non descript desert planet somewhere East of Bilston ( look it up on the map).
As usual the Empire aided by Bugs Bunnies (or Darth Carrot to the Sith) big Rebel Base Here neon sign, have discovered a rebel base and in a effort to regain some Brownie points post employing a known traitor to design the Death Star, is personally leading a force of picked troopers to overun the base before the Terrorists can slip away again.
Luke Skywalker (or Lukewarm Dishwater you pick) has gathered a select force of troops ( they were on an excursion muggin little old ladies and missed their ship) to fight a rearguard , and try and save frozen Han Solo (Desert planet nobody had any de-icer) plus crates of Kyber crystals which someone had mysteriously forgot to pack (Daffy Duck was put in charge of them …..at least they didn’t blow up.
Most of tables building’s and the Hexon itself are some 16 years old, a credit to both Hexon and industrial strength PVA.
As I haven’t got round to painting the legion barracades , I have used the one in the Old AT43 game (at some point those figures will appear as some faction for Legion)
The Hexon is a base un flocked set, with my own scatter mix, consisting of lime stone powder , which Pete a club member had been looking into the possibility that the dust produced at a lime stone quarry had any practical use, and had bags of the stuff ( I mean really big bags) . To which was added some fibrous scatter brought at Partizan many years back, which looked sand coloured in the bad lighting, but was bright orange in daylight but mixed gave the effect above.
Most of the grey Terrain is scratch built from Bisto Gray pots and a pressure cooker top with plastic straws added, the rest of buildings come from various manufacturers, some now defunct. The ruined desert buildings were brought pre WMMM’s show moving from Alumwell School, to Aldersley stadium and pre date the Hexon purchase by several years , they may be older than some OTT staffers!
