About the Project

In this project I will be building boards that are interesting and unique from The Walking Dead and using them in another project as I document my solo play through of Mantic Games The Walking Dead All Out War. I may take inspiration from the comics or the TV show, i'm not fussed for timelines etc and i'll be making my own story for Rick along the way. Enjoy this project is the building and prep project, go view my other one for the storyline (battle reports)

Con 3 - Andrew

Poor delusional Andrew… he does whatever Mr Big says when he got banged up in the slammer before the end of the world and when the world ended its clear the he was getting banged up the slammer by Mr Big (Dexter in this case). He is very much a throw away character destined to be a distraction or zombie fodder just like in the comics. hopefully he can get some supply tokens for you before he gets killed.

Convict 2 - Thomas

Another orange jumpsuit done. this time Thomas. He is pretty handy with a bladed weapon.

give him a machete and a small knife and send him after some survivors. he’ll be getting  re-rolls for days and when he hurts a survivor he’ll end up doing extra damage on top. his points cost is kept down by his complete and utter lack of health. kinda glass cannon really but orange.

Dexter is a less than friendly convicted criminal. He meets his demise in the chaos and uncertainty of a zombie hoard when he is shot in the side of the head by Rick for trying to pull a hostile take over (or kick out) of the prison. It was after all his (probably) permanent home so somewhat understandable…

Anyway, we have now reached the prison! and that means orange jumpsuits of the Rebel Alliance (to restore the Republic) Starfighter Corps… or Meriwether County big ass gaol. Stand by for much more orange to come as a lot of the ‘plot armour’ survivors end up wearing orange as a way to have a fresh(ish) set of clothes.

I used the photographed colours and i quite like the result, a nice vibrant orange to bring a little brightness to the doom and gloom of TWD.

Sorry for the lack of fancy backdrop – I haven’t built the prison yet (spoiler alert – I do have one waiting to be built!!!)

The wandering loner - Michonne

There is quite a lot of fun that could have been had with Michonne if only she had been sculpted with a skirt and some longer socks as per the cover image. I ended up going with the dropping the colours of the socks onto the boot laces to give an idea of the colourful character of the dark mysterious lady

So when reading da rulz I found out that you want to see the pile of potential before you start. I already started so you’ll just have to believe me that the last 17 models I’ve shown you I painted since the beginning of spring.

I did a count up of the models I have, I needed 157 standard 25mm bases and 10 Calvary bases to paint up the whole collection. that is one of everything but then also I’ve collected a few doubles of walkers I like so that I never reuse a walker/zombie in a game, that way I have a nice dead pile and it means it keeps the idea that each walker was a unique person prior to death rather than the usual generic undead horde.

Otis and Patricia, the strained lovers

I’ve been re-reading the comics, i had completely forgotten that these two had a pretty rough time that destroyed their relationship, then when at the prison people did some crazy stuff leading to deaths Patricia also made some interesting life choices.

The TV show obviously diverged from the comic book with these characters like it did so often to keep things fresh.

Billy Greene

Billy Greene is one of the longer lasting and more (quietly) badass characters of the Greene family. cited with killing the most people and walkers throughout the comic series. His character card reflects this too, he is the most expensive Greene family member for the period and has an excellent shoot stat and an enhanced defense stat.

Add to him a rifle (just make sure it’s not a bendy shoots round corners rifle) card of your choice and sit at the back picking off the leaders of the other warband. His ability to remove the cover dice is helpful in this sniper assassin role

Here is a lesson in check the reference photos more closely!

The Mantic Games painted version of this character shows him with blonde hair, same with Lacey actually, but when you check the comic colourisation you can see he has dark hair like the rest of the family! on reflection i should have spotted though, after all it is to be expected that siblings have the same hair colour (although not guaranteed)
