Warlord have released a errata pdf for Cruel Seas
Don’t panic its only 10 pages long
Maybe play-testing and proof reading don’t mean what I thought they meant
Sorry, but I can’t help but be somewhat cynical here…
Why should they bother with play testing? Over the years we – the players – have clearly shown that we don’t really care. And this goes for both tabletop and PC gaming. Not matter how unfinished, untested and buggy the product is, we’ll still buy it and we’ll still defend it.
Wow, I thought you were joking about it being 10 pages long but nope, 10 it is. That’s a bit of a mess. I’d be pretty annoyed if I’d picked this up.
Still what can you expect, when Warlord printed V2 Bolt Action they just copied text with known mistakes across from V1.
People on another forum were saying that the playtesting were basicaly ignored so they could get the game out for Xmas
Rules don’t matter. Only plastic matters. This is the state of the games industry.
I would agree but not entirely. I use rulesets that are stand alone so I know they should hopefully gone through some rigorous playtesting and proofreading sessions and mostly they are fine. I think there are probably companies that put more emphasis on models over rules but have no personal experience of this
Games Workshop is one such company, and that shows.
That’s what happens when you let the sales department run the design studio…
It may be 10 pages but that’s mostly down to layout and keeping the same visual presentation of the rulebook. You’ll probably find if it was just presented as a plain document it would be 2 or 3 pages at the most.
Never had a rule book go obsolete on me before even reading it as I was keeping this for Christmas.
FAQs and errata are a natural thing GWs process is a bit annoying but at least it addresses things that might not have been so obvious at the time. This though is a poor show as a lot of these could and should have been seen before print.
At least you get a printed rulebook. Star Wars Legion has a ‘living’ rules reference book, available as a pdf in a format that is really ink thirsty to print, and continually updated as the new units appear.
This is horrible on so many levels. FFG are just being cheap.
Yes.
Also FFG needs to learn how to write rules. The formula of quick start plus glossary really isn’t helpful.
