I think I am now done with the groundwork for this project.  I gave the whole thing a final coating of Watered Down Mod Podge and a light sprinkling of brown ground cover in a few places.  I also removed most of the leaf scatter from the areas that will eventually become water features.

The Mod Podge has made everything pretty robust, and I have only had a couple of odd leaves fall off, and I literally mean a couple.

Here are some pictures of where I am currently with this project.

The Fallen God

The road to Cedarwood, once a bustling thoroughfare, had long been abandoned, weeds and saplings reclaiming its weathered stones.

The air was heavy with the scent of damp earth and decaying leaves, drawing me deeper into the heart of the wood.

I had been warned about this place. The locals would cross themselves, their eyes darting nervously towards the forest, as if they feared being overheard.

I pushed through the dense underbrush, my eyes scanning the forest floor for any sign of disturbance. The trees seemed to loom over me, their branches creaking ominously in the wind. I had been told not to venture into these woods, but I had to know what had happened to Cedarwood.

The silence was deafening – no birds sang, no animals scratched – only an oppressive stillness that seemed to press in on me from all sides.  The trees seemed to close in around me, their branches tangling overhead like skeletal fingers. The ground trembled beneath my feet, and I felt a shiver run down my spine.

Throughout my career as a reporter, I had seen my fair share of strange occurrences, but this… this was different. The locals had spoken of a statue said to lie deep in the forest. They whispered of its power, of the curses it brought, and the people who had gone to investigate and never returned.

I stumbled upon the bald marble head first; its eyes seemed to bore into my very soul.  I knelt beside it, my gloved hand running over the smooth surface.  This wasn’t an ordinary statue – it radiated an aura of malevolence, a sense of ancient power that made my skin crawl.

As I gazed into its cold, lifeless eyes, I felt a creeping sense of dread.  What secrets lie hidden in this forsaken place? What had happened to the people of Cedarwood?

And I knew, in that moment, that I was not alone. Something was watching me, waiting for me to make my next move. The Fallen God’s eyes seemed to be drawing me in, pulling me deeper into the heart of madness.

What’s next?

Well, I have some more work to do on the bushes, but I think I have come up with a reasonably good solution to those.

After that, I have to go through and start to add some detailing that I have in mind for some of the tiles, and of course, everything needs to be tidied up around the edges.
