Gorram's Dwarphen Hold
Spring Clean Challenge Part 1
I haven’t been in much of a state to take part in the Spring Clean Challenge this year; in addition to work stuff, I’ve been suffering from carpal tunnel pretty severely in both hands. Painting is a pretty miserable experience.
That said, a new bar has opened up near where I live that is offering gaming space with pub opening hours. They are starting a narrative campaign for the Old World in June and I’m putting a lot of effort into being more sociable at the moment for my own good.
I have a lot of unpainted dwarphs and with my hands as they are, there’s no way they all get painted in time for the campaign or the SCC but if I can get to the point of having a kind of fun list with a good story behind it, I’ll consider it a win.
Step 1: Doing what you can
I don’t have bad days with the carpal tunnel every day but it is a problem at least a little each day. Today has been a mid-tier day for the numbness. With that in mind, I needed something to do that would be useful but not hard to do.
Magnetise some bases. I use Mantic 20mm square bases because they are designed with straight up and down sides rather than the more common slope you see and because they have a bit for either a puddle base to slot into or, if you use them upside down like I do, as magnet can fit.
That will have to do for today. Tomorrow I’m hoping to get a list of everything I have so I can come up with a plan of what I really want to work on… and to start working on the story behind Karak Gorram’s expedition to Albion.

Glad to see you are back posting again. Sorry to hear about the issue you are having with your hands. I hope that your carpal tunnel symptoms improve soon.
I look forward to see how your list and background develop. I’m just starting out with Kings of War so if you have any advice for a newbie I’m all ears.
Thank you, it’s nice to be back. The carpal tunnel is something I’ve had on and off for years; it will have periods where it disappears completely and some when it wakes me up at night.
Wish I could give you advice on Kings beyond it is a lot of fun… I’ve never won a game XD
Fun is the best recommendation. We’ve been discussing that in the forum this week.
I don’t expect to win much to start off with either. I’ve not played wargames competitively before as my friendship groups don’t take it too seriously. I’ll give it a go anyway. Certainly more in hope than expectation 😀
