Start A Fantasy Pirate Crew With Medbury Miniatures This Month
July 7, 2026 by brennon
Perhaps inspired by the fact that Assassin's Creed: Black Flag is coming back this month with an updated take on the classic pirate tale, Medbury Miniatures have released a set of fun 28mm Fantasy Pirates on their Patreon for July for 3D printing!
Pirate Captain // Medbury Miniatures
The start of the collection focuses on a pair of personalities that you could make use of for your Captain and maybe his First Mate. The Captain and a lot of the other miniatures from the set come armed with black powder weapons but also bows and crossbows so that you can play your pirates in a variety of settings.

As well as those two fellows, you've got all of the crew you could want when building one intent on a bit of plunder. Melee options come in the form of pirates with spears/polearms. They've clearly pilfered these from the stores of some local garrison and now use them for fending off those trying to board but also sea monsters!

For the ranged side of things, you've also got plenty of crewmen armed with both Muskets as you can see below...

...and also bows and arrows. You could fluff the archers as the hunters within your crew if you wanted to have a mix of both black powder and more traditional ranged weaponry within your collection.
Pirates with Bows // Medbury Miniatures
This is just the start of the pirate releases from Medbury Miniatures, as the next set of releases in August will cover a ballista and a ship's cannon for you to use onboard your vessel or perhaps on the walls of a sea fort. There will also be some more generic crew with various weapons and a few pirates running away with the loot, perfect for your skirmish games where objectives are key!
Pirates // Medbury Miniatures
The pirates are available over on Patreon right now but some of the existing range is also available on the Medbury Miniatures website, giving you a chance to start your pirate collection in metal without the need for a 3D printer. That means these figures will also be coming out in metal in the future, so watch out for that.
Could these pirates be for you?
