The game has been designed to be fast to play and when you dive in to learn the game, there are twenty-two videos that are linked throughout the book, guiding you through the process. If that has already interested you, you can actually go and watch the designer talking about the game and delve into gameplay.

What Is Haywire Modern?

Within the book, you'll find forty missions, thirty-six classes for you to play, nineteen weapons, thirty support options, thirty fog of war event cards, options for infil points, three AI-driven adversaries and procedural campaign generation, which also includes base building, resource management and soldier recruiting.

Players can dive into three tiers across player forces and adversaries - Tier 1 (elite special forces), Tier 2 (regular armed forces) and Tier 3 (militia or rebels). You can choose from a set of default units, or you can make your own and carve your own path.

All of this plays out across two campaign modes. Tour of Duty is a modular campaign where you build your base and manage resources as you battle the foe. You will be sent around the world on randomly generated missions whilst also facing campaign events triggered by player actions.

Haywire Protocol is a three-chapter narrative campaign mode where you play as Task Force 21 fighting in cover raids in the Middle East and big battles in South America. Will you be able to keep the world safe?

All you need is to find some great miniatures for a Modern Warfare-style setting and you'll be good to go!

What do you think of Haywire Protocol?
