Modiphius are making it even easier to dive into the Discworld roleplaying game, Adventures in Ankh-Morpork. There is a new Starter Set that you can pick up, which acts as a way into this wonderfully designed roleplaying game that feels distinctly Pratchett.

Starter Set - Discworld Adventures In Ankh Morpork

Starter Set // Discworld: Adventures in Ankh-Morpork

At the core of the new Starter Set (which is available physically but also comes with a digital download) is a full adventure called All That Is Gold That Is Not Butter. Not only does it come with a bunch of characters for you to play but also lots of notable NPCs that you'll immediately recognise if you're a fan of Discworld*.

The adventure itself is very funny and should be an excellent one for you to start out with, especially as it draws on a different well-known Fantasy property. You will immediately get the joke as soon as you look at the characters and NPCs.

The full contents of the Starter Set, including eight pre-generated characters and fourteen non-player characters. You'll also get ten cards covering your core character traits and twenty-four characters covering your quirks. There are also four double-sided player handouts and a nice double-sided map which shows off part of Ankh-Morpork but also the Sto Plains that you adventure through.

Starter Set Rules & Characters - Discworld Adventures in Anhk-Morpork

The physical set will also come with a set of polyhedral dice which you'll need for working out those difficult moments where the outcome matters. Whilst you might have already picked up the main book for Adventures in Ankh-Morpork, this could be another good way to dive in, especially if you'd prefer a good way in at a reasonable price.

The rules for Adventures in Ankh-Morpork aren't particularly complex but they have been designed to suit Discworld rather than the world being tacked onto another existing set of rules. I really like them and I think if you're a Pratchett fan or you just want to dive into a more narratively driven, comedic roleplaying game, this should suit you.

Could this be your way into the Discworld roleplaying game?

*If you're not, what are you doing with your life?
