Para Bellum Games has announced a new way that you can start diving into their 35mm scale Fantasy wargame, Conquest and specifically the smaller model count format and game, First Blood. The first of the Clash! sets are coming soon, with new Warbands of Legend to get you started with the different factions.

Eleanor of Aquilea - Conquest

Clash! has been designed as a brand-new way for you to get into First Blood with a series of Clash! Boxes and the new Clash! format. As Para Bellum continues to develop the format and the range, each faction in the game will get its own box, which comes with a pre-set 1000-point Army List that you can get started in Conquest with. This is a format similar to those we've seen for Kings of War and Warhammer Age of Sigmar with the likes of Champions and Spearhead.

Imperial Company - Conquest

One of the key things about Clash! is that each set, and therefore each faction, will get their own unique hero to lead the way and a set of miniatures from the wider range. I've included both the heroes and their armies from the preview here so you can take a closer look at them.

Alekhaneros the Fire Thane - Conquest

Reclamation Warhost - Conquest

The pre-made army lists are made using the contents of the Clash! boxes and remove the burden of list construction for a new player. This means you can get stuck into the full game experience without having to do much in the way of busy work beforehand.

This essentially gives you a new line of starter sets for First Blood but also Conquest in general. As mentioned above, the Clash! boxes are led by a new Legendary Character, which can be the iconic figure that you take the most time painting when you start diving into Conquest for the first time. It might also be a good chance for you to pick up a new faction without dedicating a whole bunch of time to them.

Ikasukoro the Iron Daimyo & Zako - Conquest

If you'd like to find out more about Warbands of Legend and the Clash! format, Para Bellum has put together a good breakdown of how it all works HERE. This covers one of the Hundred Kingdoms lists but will, of course, get expanded out with what you're seeing here.

Timolean the Lion - Conquest

Forsaken Fyrd - Conquest

I think this is a great idea from Para Bellum to try and get more folks to start playing Conquest. First Blood is a great starting point, especially if you're not used to working with and painting larger 35mm-scale miniatures. You don't have to do many of them and now you get a legendary hero and the pre-made army lists to make the process much more appealing.

I think my favourite might be Alekhaneros and the Reclamation Warhost but Ikasukoro the Iron Daimyo & Zako is a close second.

What do you think of this as an entry point into Conquest?
