GCT Studios Tease Miniatures For Mythical Skirmisher, Goatsong
August 18, 2026 by brennon
GCT Studios has been teasing a brand-new game. The creators of Bushido are turning their hand to Ancient Greek myth and legend with a new skirmish miniatures game called Goatsong.
Artemisia // Goatsong
Goatsong might sound like a strange name but it's the title of a new skirmish game played out on a tactical hex grid. Two warbands will do battle, led by mighty Demigods like Artemisia above, who will initially go up against Mekonen. This will cover a clash between the Rhaxan League and Sea People, fighting for glory, treasure or perhaps even something more ephemeral.
Mekonen // Goatsong
The idea is that your small warbands will engage in tightly fought combat using a poker deck of cards. The mechanics have been designed to be easy to learn initially but with additional depth through the introduction of different profiles for the various warriors and the scenarios that they'll be dropped into.
Fisherwoman // Goatsong
As you might have guessed, the world is heavily Ancient Greek-inspired and features miniatures that evoke that period of myth and legends with an added bit of GCT Studios spice. What's cool is that the miniatures are also going to be slightly bigger than the ones that you're probably used to from Bushido.
Lykon // Goatsong
Bushido is already a 35mm-scale miniatures game and so these are going to be extra heroic when they take to the hex-based arena to do battle. Whilst the miniatures are going to be larger, the Demigods, being that they're Demigods, are going to be bigger still, giving them a sense of presence on the tabletop when you're playing your games.
Niari // Goatsong
A full set of miniatures for the initial start of the game has now been finalised, so it won't be long until you'll be able to see the Rhaxan League and Sea People do battle. Further news is coming soon about the development of the game but you can already find some insights HERE and as part of the Goatsong section of the GCT Studios website, which is sure to be updated even more soon.
Oarsmen // Goatsong
GCT Studios has done a superb job with Bushido over the years and I can't see it being any different once their vision for Goatsong comes together. We've seen quite a lot of the miniatures now and so the next step is to learn more about the game itself.
With folks still on somewhat of an Odyssey kick at the moment and enjoying the likes of Warriors of Athena, I could see this going down well.
What do you make of the initial miniature previews and ideas behind Goatsong?
