The main thing I’m taking from this is that GW seem to be very serious about keeping things balanced and avoiding rules-creep this time around. 15 army specific FAQs on day zero and now, already, a rulebook update? I like it. Well done GW.
As regards the BRB FAQ, it seems to address some of the complaints and/or queries I’ve seen around the internet. Again, GW seems to be doing surprisingly well this time around. I just hope 40K gets treated as well for 6th edition 😉
That’s a really good thing for the game. Good that they’re keeping things ballanced, because I don’t want to star an army (dwarves) which aren’t viable. Another thing is that I hear dwarves did get quite a boost.
Don’t tell me 40k v6 is due out – I’ve just bought AoBR for my son’s birthday in October …..
Ohh, no. Not for a few more years yet at least. I think he was saying WHEN 40K 6th comes along, it better get the same treatment as Fantasy 8th ^^
Phew 😀
THe Aobr is great value for money any way:) so do not worry about it!
I had just a quick look at the new FAQ. I’m still a bit confused regarding power dice and some of the special rules that affect the Dark Elves: acquiring extra power dice to an excess of 12, for example.
I agree, @delux. I think it’s great they GW is on top of it. I’m sure 40K will get an equal amount of love, if not more. There are quite a few things I would consider cheesy in 40K, so I think there’s plenty of work that can be done there.
Love the faq, everything was ruled as I thought it would be, now I can actually have 17 power dice throughout the phase and no-one can say I’m doing it wrong. Also no-one can argue that my strength 8 elves affect armour 😀
All round, would like to see this updating keep going. Well done GW.
Can I ask how you get 17 power dice and why your elves wouldn’t affect armour ?
You can only have a max of 12 dice in your pile at any one time, but all the magic items that say add this amount of dice to your power/dispel pile do not state when to be used during the phase. Only channelling happens straight after rolling for power dice, so all my items that steal, generate power dice can take me back up to 12 when I use some 😀
Infact if I use my last dice on a shadow spell I could repeatly bring my powerdice pool back up to 12 after every spell (if I was lucky).
Also I was referring to okkam’s mindrazor, strength 8 elves but everyone I knew was arguing that it didn’t affect armour saves (was left open to interpretation), now it does and my horde of spearmen with 51 attacks is now happy.
so long as you never have 12 power dice at any one time in the phase, it was nice that the faq addressed that. but yeah, well done gw.. now they’ve just got to stop power creep (or every time they release a new book, release another orc and goblin one straight after 😀 )
thank you GW for not making purple sun/vortex w.e a one turn win
Sorry I’m not up on my Internetspeak. What does w.e mean?
@javlinvii w.e might be ‘what ever’ as in he don’t know the exact name for the spell
these been out since july 10 this is just a alittle update version 1.1 for al the army books all it looks to be is little wording edits and extra FAQ here and there nothing really big has been changed but nice to see an update changes are in pink btw. tomb kinds still works really well and by passes most of the rulebook changes so they have a big helping with this book. other than that the rest look level so its more competetive though vampire counts i can see struggling.
@pili they’re talking about the BRB faq which is new 🙂
i have been reading alot about the new BRB and fantacy in general and am about to start looking into an army. Sux cuz i already have 6 40k armies, some 10,000 points. lol oh well
I hope this becomes the standard.
When a new set is released everyone gets an update everyone gets there share of the pie.
Ofcorse you need good meta driving powers otherwise it’s impossiable to design.
But this has made alot of people more competive.
Wood elf players have said oh we lose skirmishers armies but they gained new ranked shooting which is fantastic.
Everyone has there quible but on the up and up it’s all good.
If 40k ever gets a revamp like this I think I will enjoy the hobby even more.
(ie adding flavour, soften power gaming and making a whole lot more enjoyable all round)
Thinking about starting fantasy.
Don’t really know what army to start with however.
So far It’s either Empire, Chaos, Ogres, or High elves.
With the latest rules I believe you could use Empire, Ogres and High Elves together as seperate units of one warband. Some alliance rule thingy they added.
Or you can use the road of “dogs of war” to hire some ogres into your armies.
the Ogre FAQ removed all mention/use of the term “Dogs of War”… so no, Ogres can’t be used as Dogs any longer.
Cool, decided Im gonna go with an Empire + Ogre alliance force.
Just wanted to check with you guys,,, you have prob heard this a million times before but,,, can wizards cast spells while in close combat..? if they can, that sux:P (im a dwarf player and always trying to stop magic from ever happening haha) plus it wouldnt make sense if they could, how can they chant and cast spells while fighting for their lives with countless foes!?!?!
