Sun Rot // Smashbash

Sun Rot is a GM-led, rules-light cooperative adventure board game where the players take on the roles of a part of adventures: the Fighter, Wizard, Cleric and Astrologer. Gameplay in Sun Rot is quick and easy, where you use simple dice rolls to resolve your actions like attacking of interacting with the environment. The twist comes in the flip of a deck of cards, where fate decides if your actions have been helped or hindered. You can see a basic overview of the game below...

The rules can then be used to adapt to different situations, allowing the GM to build all manner of different scenarios, allowing you to get more out of the game as you sit down to play.

I really like that the game comes with the standees and all of the other bits and pieces you need to play out of the box. It means that someone coming to the game can crack it out right away and get playing rather than feeling like they've got to paint a bunch of miniatures. It fits quite nicely into the Smashbash philosophy where they want to break down the barriers to entry for tabletop gaming.

One of my favourites is the towering Yesterday's Empress miniature, which looks awesome in the original sense of the word. I really like how the miniature starts with grandeur and slowly descends into something terrible and twisted the further down you look.
