### Start of shameless copy and paste ###
First time visitor to OTT? Then please introduce yourself in the New Member Thread and look around in the Project System. Then come back and read on…
https://www.ontabletop.com/forums/topic/introduce-yourselves-new-member-thread/
https://www.ontabletop.com/project/
Read all of this before you start as it will save you any trouble later.
First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.
You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.
If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.
A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil. This includes no philosophy, no home computer culture wars.
Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.
Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)
And don’t forget the highlights of the weekend: The Weekender on Friday and XLBS on Sunday. And the little show that is The Hobby Hangout over at twitch.tv
If you fancy to see some nice WIP pictures go to the WAYPN thread https://www.ontabletop.com/forums/topic/what-are-you-painting-now-2025-edition/
### End of shameless copy and paste ###
Question of the week:
- Completely unrelated to miniatures this week – How long does it for you to recover after a proper “night out”?
And now back to the show.
October 4, 2026 at 3:51 pm #1986761Pledge: finish the Zaku and take the last pictures and then submit it all.
Answer: I will tell you once I recovered from Friday XD
Music:
October 4, 2026 at 7:12 pm #1986771‘proper night out’ ?
dude … I get tired/exhausted from having to interact with people … I never could handle a ‘night out’.
It tends to drain my batteries, which is why I avoid parties.I’m slowly gathering my supplies for the 1:1 scale Hell-o-ween project.
Not quite sure if I can get even half of my ideas finished, but I’m going to do my best.
Part of the problem is that I got yet another idea for the entire thing to add to my pile of concepts.btw: PVC tubes are the best thing since sliced bread for this kind of thing.
The one thing I would love to do is add some sort of animated movement, but a lot of that stuff appears to rely on bits that are only available in the land of the orange clown.
oh … if you hate clankers then this is a must watch:
October 5, 2026 at 7:23 am #1986772October 5, 2026 at 9:07 am #1986773Not had a proper night out in years.
I now know when I have reached the point that the ‘next drink will give me a hangover tomorrow’… so I stop drinking because I hate hangovers.
The more annoying thing is that I get to the ‘hangover point’ before I achieve drunk. Suffering the consequences without the fun part of drunk is no fun.
October 5, 2026 at 2:28 pm #1986818Last week I mentioned plans to scratch build some terrain. Haven’t started a project yet, but this is the basic idea.
It’s a nightclub and as you can see the floor already glued to MDF. External walls are 2×1 and internals will be MDF. I’m waiting for some ‘brick paper’ for the external walls. Interior wallpaper will be printed on card and glued to walls.
If the project goes horribly wrong this may be the only image you see.
October 5, 2026 at 5:17 pm #1986824October 5, 2026 at 8:12 pm #1986840Pledge: repair damaged parts of resin prints and modify for the SAGA unit I’m working on
A “proper night out” might require a week to recover from. The immediate aches of strain and soreness could be the day after but the time after is mentally catching up and processing. The Hangover was not a comedy but a documentary. As far as a night of drinking… eh… I can’t say I’ve had one of those for some time
@limburger Yes, people do take a toll but some people less than others. Its always a pleasant time to enjoy the less stressful ones.
@pagan8th The slow drinking with high end booze doesn’t mitigate the hangover. It just means a greater price tag. That might be a better influence on how much we imbibe.
The project looks interesting. I will say that as long as the bathroom doesn’t end up being like the legendary one of CBGBs you’re set. Then again this might be a precursor to Night at the Roxbury.
October 5, 2026 at 9:08 pm #1986854This week’s pledge is to assemble the models I printed off recently, plus figure out what I’ll do for the Halloween hobby challenge.
- I don’t do proper nights out anymore, but last time I did it took most of the next day to recover.
And I’ve finished more Lil’ Rascals.
October 7, 2026 at 3:57 pm #1987072I started my scratch build terrain project. Noticed something weird. When I was selecting Genre I had to go for General because there is no option for Modern, or Superhero. Everything else seems to be there.
Anyway… early days on the project. You can’t miss it… it’s a tacky neon like artwork with strippers.
October 7, 2026 at 5:50 pm #1987111if it’s tacky then you need to wait a little longer ’til the glue and paint have dried 😉
I’ve had to invest in lots of paper tissues. It’s the season of a sneezin’
At least I can be somewhat functional and work from home. *achoo*October 8, 2026 at 12:00 am #1987121My definition of a ‘proper night out ” has changed from when I was in my 20s . For one thing there is a lot less booze and wild young women when your pushing 70 . Mind you the booze I quit in my mid 20s, I don’t miss it . Just went to see Sabaton , Wings of Steel and Pop Evil in Calgary Monday night . Four hours of awesome music , standing room only , so knees & ankles are in pain . But after getting back to the hotel after midnight , and having 5 hours sleep I drove the 500 km home feeling great . I bought the tickets last fall and then show was postponed due to injury to bass player , and then this summer I moved . In fact I have to go back south twice before the end of the year , weather permitting for 2 more concerts . Being a retired semi truck driver used to 750 miles a day , a four or five hour road trip is a breeze .
Hobby wise I just picked up 2 Shermans , M3 Lee , a M3 Grant and a M3 Halftrack to build plus I’m kit bashing the Warlord new plastic Brits with the seated Brits to make tank riders and crew for my 3 half tracks . I found the standing guy from the original 5 man Brit sprue will fit in the half track mg pulpit , this after doing surgery on figures , maybe I can use them as casualties.
