    ### Start of shameless copy and paste ###

First time visitor to OTT? Then please introduce yourself in the New Member Thread and look around in the Project System. Then come back and read on…

    https://www.ontabletop.com/forums/topic/introduce-yourselves-new-member-thread/

    https://www.ontabletop.com/project/

Read all of this before you start as it will save you any trouble later.

First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.

You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.

If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.

A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil. This includes no philosophy, no home computer culture wars.

Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.

Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)

And don’t forget the highlights of the weekend: The Weekender on Friday and XLBS on Sunday. And the little show that is The Hobby Hangout over at twitch.tv

If you fancy to see some nice WIP pictures go to the WAYPN thread https://www.ontabletop.com/forums/topic/what-are-you-painting-now-2025-edition/

    ### End of shameless copy and paste ###

    Question of the week:

    • Thanks to the inspiration that is the double fisting of puns from this weeks XLBS: Do you solo wargame? Explain why.

And now back to the show.

Pledge: find a new project now that the ‘nids are done

Answer: No, I don’t do solo wargaming. Mostly because it’s a social hobby for me when it come to the play part. Also setting everything up just for myself feels wasted time when I can just launch a video game instead.

Pledge:  Find a new project now The Dogs are done 🙂  I only finished that project today so perhaps I’ll give myself a few days before diving into the next thing.

Answer:  Yes I do.  In fact I played with myself last week as part of the final phase of the SCC.  I think it is really useful for those of us who struggle to get a regular opponent or who want to play things that aren’t going to be popular with our gaming group.  I also think it is the best way to learn rules when you very first start out.  I’ll often set up a movement or combat phase and play through whilst reading through the rules.

from what I can tell most infantry models in the Armageddon box are ‘push-fit’ kind. Zero options beyond the one given to you.

It does suck that there’s no terrain in there. I guess they needed a reason to sell those new fancy ‘terrain footprint’ things ?

Ben really is a master at something indeed 😀
When I look at games the solo-rules are pretty much my number one requirement.
Not that I have time to actually play … or at least somehow I never do.
I think that’s why getting rid of as much social media as possible was a good choice.

    More music …

    This fits …

    Just one more …

    And now I’m done

    It’s Monday moaning.

Way to hot already and it will get worse.

    Remain indoors, stay hydrated.

Pledge of the week… hydrate in the hot weather… keep out of the sun where possible.

I have tried solo wargameing, Silver Bayonet, but it was a slaughter.

Reason is simple, my opponent had been unavailable for many months and it gave me an excuse to paint some minis.

    too bloody hot indeed …
Got my K’47 mystery box. It’s the Tommies !  (aka British Commonwealth).
So glad it wasn’t Americans 😉

Not too sure why there’s Italian heavy armoured troops in there as well, but I’m sure it makes sense for K’47.

    • 14,50 B for berty
    • 20,50 Automated Director
    • 44,50 Mk 1 Automated Infantry
    • 44,50 Mk 2 Automated Infantry
    • 50,00 Italian Bersaglieri Armored Infantry Squad
    • 33,00 British Grenadiers
    • 33,00 M5A2 Coyote Light Walker

If my math is mathing I can say:

@sundancer one disaster never arrives alone

@pagan8th you might then have done what I did : order a few more bits … so I’m not sure who’s the smart one here 😉

    one disaster never arrives alone

@limburger  “Troubles come not single spies but in battalions” Thanks for referencing that one.  Hamlet, my favourite 🙂

I hope @sundancer fought the good fight with the downed mail server and emerged triumphant.

Too hot!  It got to 32C here in Devon and London and South East England will have been a few degrees more than that.  Hotter to come tomorrow as we have a red weather warning for heat, whatever that means.  Think it is just as bad on the continent too.  And for you lucky folk who live in hot climates and are thinking, that’s nothing it gets to 40+ here.  Indeed – but many of you also have central air conditioning at home.  In Europe that mostly isn’t a thing yet.

surely parents will have huge advantage when it comes to talking to Claude and any other LLM.
They’re used to talking to toddlers and making them do as their told …
    I’m at a huge disadvantage here. 😀

Bloody thing is ignoring my instructions and doing things I don’t want because it doesn’t feel like it.

Hamlet … is that what Piglet is called once the butcher has done his thing ? 😉

@limburger  What makes you think anyone, including parents, can get toddlers to do as they are told?  Mine rarely did 😀

I do hope we haven’t go to start taking AI’s “feelings” into account.  I think they are already getting the drop on us intellectually.  I’d rather not have to worry about whether they feel like liking us or not as well.

Hamlet … is that what Piglet is called once the butcher has done his thing ?

😀  Winnie the Pooh is going to get you for that one.
