Pre-Order Stunning Warriors Of Chaos For Warhammer: The Old World
August 11, 2026 by brennon
Pre-orders are now available for the stunning and very customisable Warriors of Chaos that are making their mark on Warhammer: The Old World and the revamped rules that came out recently. There are some brilliant new plastic kits on the way, covering new characters, core troops and more.
Lord or Sorcerer on Chaos Dragon // Warhammer: The Old World
One of the most impressive new miniatures for the Warriors of Chaos comes in the form of the Lord or Sorcerer who can be mounted on the back of a fearsome Chaos Dragon. The Chaos Dragon itself is immense and feels like a good callback to the traditional Galrauch the Great Drake. What's neat is that if you fancied getting rid of the rider, you could always just run this as a Chaos Dragon who wants to bring ruin to the battlefield on their own terms.
Lord or Sorcerer on Chaos Dragon // Warhammer: The Old World
The Chaos Lord comes in the classic heavy armour of the army and can carry a tall shield or axe alongside a polearm and sword. There are also two styles of horned helm for you to pick from. The Sorcerer Lord also comes with three different head options. That means that even if you're going to be buying a couple of these kits, you can make some diverse leaders for your armies.
I quite like the more Marauder-style Sorcerer that you get in this set rather than the Sorcerer being clad in heavy armour like the rest of his kin. That means that he should fit in nicely with a more Marauder-themed army, an army style that has also been graced by great new plastic miniatures.
Finally, the Chaos Dragon also comes with two different styles of heads plus various horns and other accessories for you to choose from. A solid kit for a Chaos fan.
Chaos Champion
Sticking with the characters, you can also buy the fearsome Chaos Champion set, which echoes some of the plastic kits of Warhammer Fantasy Battles.
Champions of Chaos // Warhammer: The Old World
This is an equally nice kit that allows you to build two Champions of Chaos. One of them is on foot and the other is astride a Daemonic Mount. You can use these to represent your Aspiring Champions, Exalted Champions and Chaos Lords. The Champion can also be turned into your Battle Standard Bearer if you're looking to keep order on the field.

As with the Chaos Dragon set above, you can also find loads of options in this kit, so it's a bit of a customisation dream for anyone building an army. There are four different heads plus various axes and maces alongside a lovely severed head. You can even have the hand clenched into a fist as a sign of dominance.
I really like the new direction for the Warriors of Chaos characters by Games Workshop. It continues to bring across a lot of the original look and feel of the army from previous games but with a new style that feels in line with the artwork we've always seen for the Warriors of Chaos. It's very Adrian Smith-coded.
Elite Warriors Of Chaos
The core of your Chaos army is also catered for thanks to the addition of the new Chaos Warriors.
Chaos Warriors // Warhammer: The Old World
Again, this set feels like it captures the art and design of the Warriors of Chaos better than previous iterations. I like that the fur still has a place on these miniatures and Games Workshop has also toned down the trim so it's not so intense!
This set allows you to build sixteen Chaos Warriors, built as one larger unit or perhaps a smaller set of eight. There are enough command components to allow you to do both with standard bearers, champions and musicians. This is specifically a set for Chaos Warriors armed with hand weapons and shields but I'm sure that some enterprising folks will find great weapons and such for you to use when creating other units.
Thundering Chaos Knights are also in the mix for this new addition to the Warriors of Chaos army.
Chaos Knights // Warhammer: The Old World
Chaos Knights have always been a fearsome addition to any Warriors of Chaos army and now they have miniatures to match. Again, they can be assembled as a unit of eight or two units of four, both with plenty of components for building your command.
The set comes with lances for your Chaos Knights to use when smashing into the enemy and sending them scattering to the winds or indeed trampled under hoof. If I know anything about Chaos Knights, the riders are fearsome but their mounts can do plenty of damage! Again, they look great and very in keeping with the iconic art for the Warriors of Chaos.
New Journal
New rules and background for the Warriors of Chaos can be found within a new Arcane Journal, The March of Chaos.
The March of Chaos // Warhammer: The Old World
Some background...
"When Frydaal the Chainmaker sailed from the frozen north to Westerland, first for slaughter and then for conquest, most in the bustling palaces of Marienburg were too distracted by matters of state to treat the threat seriously. The people of the Wasteland suffered and prayed – and aid finally came from an unexpected quarter, even as greater turmoil descended upon the Empire."
Inside the book, you'll find more background around the Hordes of Chaos and their fight against both Grand Cathay and the Empire. There are also new rules for magic and the Winds of Magic, which should be interesting for any fan of wizards. A new set of rules also allows you to customise your Champions of Chaos with boons and this could then lead into a new Hordes of Chaos Army of Infamy that brings the Warriors of Chaos and Beastmen Brayherds together. Finally, you could maybe give some new corrupted magical items to your Champions to use in battle.
A Good Starting Point?
If all of this has stirred you into action to try out Warhammer: The Old World, the first of the new Battle March sets are coming out for the Warriors of Chaos and Grand Cathay. These are pre-made armies that you can use for playing the quicker version of The Old World.
Warriors of Chaos Battle March Army // Warhammer: The Old World
The Warriors of Chaos army comes with a Chaos Sorcerer plus units of Warriors of Chaos, Knights of Chaos, Marauders and Marauder Horsemen. A great mix between elite killers and the mob that flocks to their cause. All in the service of the Chaos Gods!
They could be pitted against the Battle March army for Grand Cathay. A good starting point for two folks who like The Old World?

This comes with a Shugengan Lord on Great Spirit Longma, a regiment of Jade Warriors, Jade Lancers, Iron Hail Gunners and the Crane Gunners. A solid mix of core troops that will be great for your Battle March games and as a building block for a larger army.
Could these new pre-orders tempt you to dive into Warhammer: The Old World?
