New Combat Se7ens Sets For Grimdark Painters By The Army Painter
October 13, 2026 by brennon
The Army Painter has a great set of paints called Combat Se7ens, which was launched earlier this year, answering the question "what paints do I need to finish an army?" Funnily enough, this works well alongside the current edition of Warhammer 40,000 and for those diving into new armies.
Combat Se7ens: Noble Relic Armour // The Army Painter
The two newest Combat Se7ens paint sets cover two of the iconic armies of Warhammer 40,000, namely the Space Marines (and specifically the Ultramarines) as well as the Orks. These paints are all from the Warpaints Fanatic range and you'll get a bunch of acrylics in the set alongside washes and metallics.
The second of the new sets covers the Orks with Looted War Gear. Importantly, these sets have all been hand-picked by The Army Painter to work together. So, you're getting a set of paints that will take you from beginning to end and have your army finished without much hassle.

If this has got you interested in the Combat Se7ens collection from The Army Painter, there are loads more for you to choose from which, funnily enough, cover the different armies from Warhammer 40,000. I've included a couple more of them below so you can see the mix of paints they've put together at The Army Painter for different armies.

Combat Se7ens: Purple Xenos Flesh // The Army Painter
I would imagine that we're going to be seeing this range expand. The Army Painter has said in their posts about the Combat Se7ens range that if you have any ideas about different paints and army combinations, they'd be open to hearing your thoughts. What would you do next?
Do you think this is a good idea?

I like the idea… but why “online only”? oO
Probably because they’re very selective and not something they could work on stocking in a store etc.
or maybe because the GW lawyers wouldn’t play nice ?
It’s one thing to sell it in their webshop.
Retail may have its own set of challenges for this kind of thing ?
MiG are doing something similar too (Scarlet Reavers may be legally distinct totally not Blood Angels), but I’m not sure if their IoniC paint range has a retail presence
@brennon – disagree; Vallejo and AK do sets in small box sets. They are very handy!
iv seen some of these instore at one of my locals
It’s a good idea for folks that just got into the hobby.
Also, why does that Ultramarine look more like a Crimson Fist to me? I think it’s the blue…
I bet it is because it is ‘noble relic armour’ and not an official space marine chapter for copyright reasons …
really like this idea, there pretty cost effective and also give you a good system to get a result without complication
