Kingdom Death, Sorted By Monster & Armour Type

First above, we see the Screaming Antelope.  Another quarry that can be turned in to armour. Next is the newly released Screaming Nukealope variant.  I learned from past experiences and undercoated this with the green from the Vallejo 72302 Non-Death Chaos set 72.033 – Livery Green.  The whole flesh scheme was taken from this set and I forgot the undercoat on the original model.

I’ve just gone googling to work out what that paint was called and anyone looking to copy me should be aware.  They seem to have re-released this set under the same name with completely different paints in it.  Whole different colours, but photos of the same models on the box.  I cannot vouch for this sit.  I used the original set.

There are currently no variants, but the Nightmare Ram and Screaming God are on the horizon.  I’ll deal with them when they arrive.

There’s only one Kings Man enemy so far.  You cannot make armour from him.  However, who ever deals the killing blow gets afflicted by The Kings Curse, and their body is slowly taken over by his armour until it consumes them, so some survivors can wear his gear.

There’s 2 hand variants.  I thought there were some pinups too, but I keep getting The hand and The Kings Man confused.  I’ll update here later if I find any survivor types.  Once again, there are no armour sets made from this guy.

There are only 2 Butcher enemies right now, but there may be more in the future.  There are a few butcher and forsaker styled followers and pinups.  There is no armour made from the butchers remains.

The attendants sashes were shaded with GW Druchii Violet wash and highlighted as above as best as I can with a brush that should have been thrown out. I’ve gone Vegan and I’ve yet to use a synthetic brush that doesn’t get hook tip quickly so I’m trying to make my sable brushes last as long as I can. The Knights front sash was drybrushed with GW Genestealer Purple. I tried this on the attendants but drybrushing would have made too big a mess.

My Kingdom Death miniatures collection grows bigger all the time.  I have a dream of having a survivor for every armour and weapon type combination for each gender.  It’s really not possible to do this with the modular sprues in the boxes without buying more.  They’re usually not in print, and everything KDM is quite expensive, especially with international shipping, Brexit and tariffs and whatever the world throws at us next (Aliens: please send help!  We can’t be left unsupervised, apparently).  I recently picked up all of the Pinups of Death boxes cheap on eBay.  I already have some of these models, so I’m looking to kitbash my duplicates, and give weapons to some of the other models, and paint extra clothes on everyone so they appear more battle ready. I also have a few extra armour sprues awaiting building.

If anyone is reading this and hasn’t played the game, you don’t need all these models.  You can play forever with just the 4 starting survivors, or even just tokens numbered 1-4 if you wanted.  I just want to do this if I can.

I didn’t know which weapon and armour combos to build that I wouldn’t regret the next time Poots has a white box bundle deal out for Black Friday so I took the time to create a full list of every model released (At least, that shows up on KDM Collector), detailing what weapon type it is holding and what armour type I think it might be wearing, or I think I could paint it as.   I’ve then used this to create a list of what combos I have, what combos exist and I could potentially get, and what weapon/armour combos do not exist yet.  A copy of this spreadsheet can be found HERE.  It is editable (I have a separate copy) so please go it and make notes in the comments column for any misidentifications you think I may have made.

I would like a male and female sculpt in each armour type matching each of the following weapon proficiencies:

Axe
Bow
Club
Dagger
Fist & Tooth
Grand Weapon
Katana
Katar
Shield (Not sure I’ll ever send someone out with a shield and no weapon, but I might have already done that.  It’s a low priority build)
Spear

Whip

There are also proficiencies for the following, but they are far less represented in the game.  I’d like to get them too, but they’re lower priority, until they get more representation

Gun (I think?  Maybe?)

This project is to help me keep my collection organised and help me remember what I’ve got, and to help others work out how to fill out their survivor rosters to avoid unintentional duplication.

I plan on making an entry for each monster, along with its armour type, and keeping updating it with all future purchases, instead of adding new posts at the end as I would in a normal project.

If anyone knows of any STL collections that match the KDM style and could be used to fill in the blanks, without stepping on Poot’s toes, please let me know.  one day I’ll catch up on my painting enough to get the printer out again.

I have included painting notes when they were conveniently to hand.  They were written in notepad files for my reference only so they may not make full sense to others.  please feel free to ask me if you want them explaining, or if you want to know how I did something I’ve not explained.
