About the Project
With the advent of the Avatars of War Kickstarter I had an urge to paint some Trolls. To keep me going I picked up some 3D prints.

New Shinies
My phone glitched and all of a sudden I owned five trolls. I am sure if I had looked on Vinted I could have got them for a quid.
I liked the mix of classic troll meets world of Warcraft style troll in the sculpts. I was not expecting them to be quite so large.
They’re big buggers
Colour choices
I wanted to go colourful on the various growths but wanted to opt for a more Scandinavian dark flesh tone as a contrast. Not sure if it will work but I can always paint over it.
I primed with Hyrax brown and then did a zenithal with Peachy Peach
I then did base colours, for the body I used a variety of blues so they were vague unified to start. Gothic blue, Triumphant navy and Royal blue
I used ancient tree for the leather and will use Dryad brown for highlights.
Finishing Up
I blitzed through the rest of the painting as I was enjoying myself. Given the size of the models I used I used glazing and highlighting which is a bit out of my comfort zone.
So that’s my little troll warm up Hopefully it won’t be too long until my Avatars of War Kickstarter arrives.
