does he have a thunder hammer
Yes, well, sort of, he has a Master-Crafted Nemesis Deamon Hammer, which comes down to:
– Thunder Hammer
– Nemesis weapon bonuses (force weapon + daemonbane)
– Reroll on 1 missed to hit roll.
It’s Coteaz, same pronounciation as the person who made the Spanish Inquisition a happy place.
I remember when this guy first came out a while ago, his model is still very cool I think. He seems quite useful I’d take him.
His lord of Formosa rule almost makes me want to start the Adeptup Arbites army i always wanted.
Acolytes with bolters or hotshot lasguns as patrol arbiters, crusaders as storm squads, maybe deathcult and/or Arco-flaggelants as cybermastifs, servitors as executioners and the inqusitors as judges, needs a bit to be really competitive but could be quite fun to model and play
My dissapointment here lies with his henchmen, the death cult are pretty much flawless when led by Coteaz(or any other inquisitor really), since he has the frag grenades to assault into cover with them. However I’m always drawn to look at the warrior acolyte.
He’s fine if you want to swamp the board in cheap troops, but they’re nowhere near as good as stormtroopers even after you give ’em carapace armour and hotshots which takes them to within 3 points of a stormtrooper, for that they miss out on deep strike, an AP3 pistol, an extra attack in close combat (since they have a close combat weapon as well), frag and krak grenades, the specialisations which is either scout and move through cover, re-roll scatter on deep strike or infiltrate with pinning the first time they shoot, AND they’re bs3 instead of 4. 🙁
Now the fluff for storm troopers is that they filter out the almost good enough ones and that’s what the Guard get, that 1-in-100 that shows the right kind of promise is were the inquisition gets its man-power from, indeed even the fluff in the GK codex says they often come from the Schola Progenium (which is were storm troopers are raised, not just trained, raised.) the Skitarii(who you’d think would be a bit better than a regular guardsman) or the chambers militant of the Ecclesiarchy IE the sisters of battle. So why the hell are they BS3?
Simples. Matt Ward needs a slap.
