With the base gloop dry, time to add paint to my weapon teams.

I had done a bit of research for the camo, and settled on a late war camo that wasn’t fully adopted but did go on to inspire post-war patterns, Leibermuster. My thoughts being that in this alternate timeline, perhaps it was rolled out further.

After laying down a Zandri dust base, I filled in all of the other details before adding Skrag Brown as the first colour (technically second as the base shows through). This is a nice orangey brown, I didn’t want to go too red as I planned to use a bright green as the next colour. I chose Warpstone Glow for this as a nice saturated green to add some colour. Finally I added Abaddon Black across the top to give the distinctive splattery effect.

Overall, I am happy with the effect, though the “this is never going to work” phase lasted an eternity until I finally got around to this step.

I also have a Feldgrau recipe that I am happy with, 1:1 Mechanicus Standard Grey (MSG goes with everything) and Tamiya XF65 Field Grey (which alone, was too green for me)

Clearly, the system is working well. I have a few more to paint but have a good understanding of the order for painting the rest now.

I did have a slight mishap during the victory lap around one of the weapon team bases. I swear I don’t apply that much pressure to my brushes.

Final bit of painting, I couldn’t resist doing a grizzled old veteran who has had a run in with some genetic scientists.

Here he is having a snarl at something.
