More Hextech Terrain On The Way For 6-10mm Sci-Fi Wargaming

Gale Force Nine and Thunderhead Studio are collaborating on even more Hextech terrain for those playing 6mm to 10mm Sci-Fi wargames. October will bring the new Forward Operating Base set for those looking to establish a frontier with their mechs and tanks.

Much like the existing range of Battlefield in a Box by Gale Force Nine, the Hextech collection comes pre-painted and ready to use on the tabletop once you've cracked it out of the box. As you can see, this introduces buildings which have probably been set up in order to facilitate a military push into enemy territory or onto an alien world.

You could see these as prefabricated buildings that might even just be dropped from orbit or hastily assembled by an army of drones (human or robotic). They are fairly basic in look, which means that you could add your own affiliation markings to them if you were so inclined. I am getting some serious RTS vibes from these and think they'd be perfect for some BattleTech (obviously) but also games like Hardwar. The set will break down into a Barracks, Control Towers, Generator Farms, Hangar and Uplink Array.

There are now some seriously cool environments as part of the Hextech range, allowing you to put together both urban and rural environments for your clashes in 6mm to 10mm battles. I also like that they come on the hex bases, so you can easily slot them together onto existing maps that you might have, whilst also ensuring they tessellate pleasingly when you're building your more freeform battlefields.

The Hextech range, and this is the case across the board with the pre-painted range by Gale Force Nine, is also very reasonably priced for what you're getting. I picked up a lot of their 28mm scale pre-painted terrain for games of Warhammer 40,000 and it didn't break the bank to build a full table. I sense you'd get a very good deal out of these sets for your smaller-scale games too.
