why can i not take a drone controller and a hard-wired drone controller? the rules only say I can’t have more than one of the same item. It doesn’t say I can’t have 2 different items that do the same thing. Considering the differences in the 2, 1 being a support system and the other being a piece of wargear, I see no reason why a model with access to both couldn’t have both to get more drones. Furthermore, It doesn’t say anywhere that all drones must have a drone controller. please help me understand why I can’t have both.
On the second point, drones only become available as an upgrade after you’ve taken a drone controller. however you could still use a FA Gun Drone Squadron as a line of sight barrier for you battlesuits.
The first point however is a very good one. I don’t see why you couldn’t take one standard and one hardwired controller on a character or squad leader. Broadsides would be nearly untouchable if this were possible. Will have to look into it further, and will get back to you.
the hard-wired are the same in every aspect including the limit on taking two as the non hard-wired one. as for taking just a drone with no controller in the book it says that the drones need to be in a pack or being controlled by a drone controller
ill put it to Darrell and see what he says
I agree with bow I rather have a death shield drone that a battlesuits at least is a temp barrier.
You can take two of the same drones once you have a drone controller. Drones are wargear when taken this way so it won’t face a leadership when they pop.
i wish this were true, but drones under the control of a drone controller count for morale, and objective tests. if not, we’d have more drones than soldiers.
