Pre-Orders For New Edition Of Iconic Cry Havoc Coming Soon!

The iconic Standard Games 1981 classic Historical board game, Cry Havoc, is coming up for pre-order again very soon with a revamped version by original artist Gary Chalk and the team at Footsore Miniatures & Games.

This remaster was originally funded via Kickstarter, which allowed Gary Chalk to come back to the game with the original rules and brand-new art and design. It means that this classic game now has a real contemporary feel and means more people will be able to experience the fun of Cry Havoc and it's Medieval skirmishes.

Players will take control of a warband of Medieval characters ranging from knights to serjeants and peasants. Each token now has multiple variants when it comes to the art, making it easy to keep track of who's who on the battlefield. There are also nine scenarios to play through across four game maps.

The full contents include a booklet on the Historical period, covering warfare in the 13th Century and going into detail about the different playing pieces in the game. You will also find the full rules for playing your games and a set of scenarios as mentioned above.

There are also four reference sheets for players to use during the game, which will sit around the wonderful pair of double-sided hex maps which were illustrated by Steve Beckett. You also get all of those gorgeous tokens, each printed to the highest quality, representing the different soldiers you'll be fielding. You also get two d10 for you to use during gameplay.

I never got to play the original Cry Havoc but by all accounts it was great fun and spawned all sorts of additional expansions that explored different time periods and also different genres! I'm sure there are going to be some fans of the classic that will be picking this up if they missed it on the Kickstarter. I am also quite tempted and not just because I'm a massive fan of the art of Gary Chalk!

Whilst already included in the main box, there is also a separate pre-order coming up for the first Map Pack for the game.

Map Pack #1 // Cry Havoc

This represents the same maps found within the Cry Havoc box but introducing more maps will allow you to increase the size of your battlefield for larger games of Cry Havoc.

Cry Havoc will be returning to stores from the August Bank Holiday here in the UK and pre-orders will go live on the Footsore Miniatures & Games website from 22nd August 2026. This means it won't be a very long wait for you to get this game into your hands.
