Spellcrow Tease First Miniatures For Wartar Fantasy Project
July 10, 2026 by brennon
Spellcrow sculptors have been working on some great new 28mm scale Fantasy miniatures for a new wargaming project they're building towards. Wartar is on the horizon and we're seeing some of the fun Horned Warriors that will be a part of this Fantasy world.
Horned Warrior Champion // Wartar
The first miniature that we got to see was for the Horned Warrior Champion, who will be one of the leaders in the boxed set for Wartar when it eventually lands. I'm getting some great, classic Fantasy vibes with the artwork and painting style reminding me of proper old school stories from the era of Moorcock and Gemmell. I am a sucker for barbarians, so seeing these Horned Warriors piqued my interest.
Spellcrow then showed off a second miniature from the Horned Warrior faction in the game.

The miniatures feature that lovely attention to detail that you'd expect from Spellcrow, who have been sculpting beautiful miniatures for Argatoria and Umbra Turris for years to this same standard. I think the work on the wood of the axe is particularly nice to see and some glorious beard work that will take very well to highlighting or drybrushing.
I'm fascinated to see where Wartar goes as a game and what other miniatures pop up for it. I like the design of the logo as well, which is giving off proper Heavy Metal vibes!
What do you think of these initial teasers for Spellcrow's Wartar?

He looks like a villain from an 80s Sword and Sorcery movie, which is a very good thing.
Proper barbarian types, beautifully done.
Those look very nice. Is the 2nd picture representative of what @avernos is wearing tonight for the Norway game?
I’m not being that subtle! Fuck england, goan Norway!!
