Everything and anything

Only the 1 miniature completed this week but a few others are in progress.

Moved away from burrows and badgers back to blood bowl as I have a few new big guys in need of painting.

I have put away the washes after not being happy with the last sets of models.  I am seeing how I can get on with starting with a far darker base colour and working my way up with brightness

First one completed is Morg, the ogre star player.

Quite happy with the result but think I should have gone a tone or 2 lighter with the skin.  Tried to get a stubble effect around the  face and head, relatively happy but it is perhaps a bit too subtle.

The next two up are the Minotaur and a Rat Ogre.  So really stepping away from the anthropomorphic miniatures with those 2.

The WIPs are as follows, the Minotaur is the model further along.

Life is going to get int the way of painting for the next couple of weeks or so, so the progress may be slow.  However, slow progress is obviously better than no progress

5 painted but 3 more purchased.  Still at least the list of outstanding stuff is still going in the right direction.

The models painted were picked up from black scorpion at Salute so being painted within a year is per good for me.

These are the men at arms 2, and the free knight superior.

A bit disappointed with the faces, but not enough to go back.  I also went old school and put a black wash on some of the colours and I now dislike the finish on the black and browns on the men at arms.

Although I liked these miniatures, I definitely prefer painting at a slightly larger scale as these were properly 28mm which compared to my hand are tiny.

4 more burrows and badgers panted to finish off the painting in my collection.

I still need to figure out the basing for my townsfolk as I am not sure whether to do the same as the others or make it specific for their urban environment.

First up are the badgers.  The first up has my first attempt at tartan.  As always it could be better but think it was a decent job.

With these done I am down to 800 miniatures to go.   Although I have 2 megagargants that will be picked up next week.

The plan for next week is to build my new blood bowl miniatures and do something that does not involve anthropomorphic animals.  I am probably going to do the men at arms from black scorpion I picked up at Salute this year.

Based on my completely non-anal spreadsheet, I am making steady but slow process even when taking into account my new purchases.

So I have painted 38 miniatures – granted some haven’t been based but let’s not quibble over semantics.  I have purchased11 miniatures (not including the kickstarter for Burrows and Badgers) but still made a smallish dent into the pile of potential.

Still got loads and I should by the end of September by under 800.  See below.

The current plan with this project is to do this until the end of the year and in 2027 start a new project for the year.

However, that is dependent on how engage I stay with this process but it does seem to be helping.  I may also start a new private project to record all of the B&B miniatures that I have and may point them up WISIWIG style but that is a very weak may.

5 more miniatures from Burrows and Badgers completed this week.

The 5 minis from this week were out together as a war band in their colour scheme to try and make them match.   I made sure that I chose the scheme first before worrying about the colouration of the animals.   Most seem OK but not too sure on the owl.

After these 5, it leaves me with only 4 B&B minis, which is 3 badgers and 1 giant cave bear.  The plan is to work on the badgers this week but they are all disparate so I feel that they should all have differing colours for their clothing an accessories but we will see how that goes.

More Burrows and Badgers this week and 7 miniatures down.   The remaining 4 townsfolk have now finished off the kickstarter.   Yes they still need to be based but they will do for now.

I also finished 3 other minis which just leaves 9 B&B miniatures to go, so will have to move onto another project soon.

First are the remaining townsfolk and a group shot of all the townsfolk.

The other 3 miniatures are as follows but surprisingly, they have actually been based – not well but basing has been involved.

So another golden button for the project.

I think that the choice of minis probably assisted getting it but I will still take it.  BTW seeing the enbigulated(if such a word exists) pictures is stressful as I see all the issues. At least Gerry didn’t pick out the mould lines.

3 more minutes completed this week so the Green Hat gang is now complete apart from basing.  A few of the civilians have also been completed.   4 more minis and the entire kick starter will be complete.

Talking of kickstarters, I have just backed the new B&B one.  But those miniatures aren’t due until next year so they don’t get counted until they arrive.

Three more blood bowl miniatures picked up so I think this counts as a number neutral  week.

5 more finished bar basing.  This leaves just 3 more of the gang to finish.  Mostly just the fur to go.

After those it is just 6 more townsfolk, and then I will have finished the Kickstarter that they come on.  These models are going to be painted in my more traditional way and the skin/fur will be painted first followed by the outer layers to try and get the colour schemes better

In fairness the Kickstarter shipped in September 2022 so it has only taken 4 years.  Pretty good for me.

most of the models are fine but have struggled with some of the painting.  Specifically with the adder.

The original plan was to find a cool pattern scheme and paint it on but it was just an absolute ‘mare.  So the model just ended up painted, devised and then shaded for interest.

The Moonstone models have also arrived so more potential is in the background
