Flyers Revealed For Atomic Mass Games’ Star Wars: Legion!
October 15, 2026 by brennon
Atomic Mass Games revealed more details this week on flyers and how they are going to be added to Star Wars: Legion. Whilst these BIG new miniatures won't be coming until February 2027, this preview gives us a look at the first new miniatures and how they will act in-game.
V-Wing // Star Wars: Legion
Players of Star Wars: Legion will be able to get their hands on a flyer for the Galactic Republic, Separatists, Rebellion, Empire and the Mandalorians. The Galactic Republic gets the sleek and deadly V-Wing (above), which will be screaming through the skies, hunting down the dangerous Vulture Droids of the Separatists (below).

Again, another iconic addition to the collection and one that will be immediately recognisable to fans of the prequel era. I would love them to do the classic Naboo Starfighter as well at some point. As someone pointed out, it is a shame that we haven't seen them do a version of it walking but I would guess that would somewhat defeat the point of it being a flyer!
If you're going to be fighting in the era of Rebellion, then how about the iconic X-Wing? Just look at that! No one is going to be able to avoid making swooshing noises when moving this around the tabletop.

If you'd rather try to make the screeching noise of a TIE Fighter hurtling through space on the hunt for rebel pilots, then you've also got this classic waiting for you when the flyers get added to Star Wars: Legion in February. All of these look like huge plastic kits and are perfect for folks who just want cool Star Wars flyers in their life, even if you're not interested in Legion.
TIE Fighter // Star Wars: Legion
Fans of the Mandalorians aren't going to be left out either. Those helmeted badasses are going to be able to get their hands on the Fang Fighter, which will be honing in on its target.

Flyers in Star Wars: Legion can be added to your army as a separate slot when building it for your games. You can take two of them in standard games, and whilst they are incredibly manoeuvrable (able to go anywhere on the board), they can't score objectives. This means that whilst they will bring plenty of firepower, they aren't going to be winning you games. You'll still need your infantry to slog through the mud and sand below.
Flyers - Scale Comparison // Star Wars: Legion
Each of the new flyers comes on that new base that you see here. The bottom of it can be moved around so that it can fit anywhere on the battlefield (within reason!). Atomic Mass Games also mentioned that anti-air capabilities will be retrofitted into Star Wars: Legion, so these iconic vehicles aren't going to be flying around without anything to take them out.
I can't wait to see people using these in their games. I would also imagine someone somewhere is already thinking about how to make BIG X-Wing happen using the old game mechanics from the classic Fantasy Flight Games game. Anyone want to build a massive hall-conquering trench run for big X-Wings and TIE Fighters?
What do you think?

As much as I love SW:L I’m not sold on the concept of star fighters for that scale. Flyers might work on epic scale games (10mm and less) but here? That being said I have neither read the rules for flyers (if they are even out yet) nor have I seen any prices. The later could be a kill switch regardless of rules. I am trying to remember but didn’t 40k at one time also have flyers that just “whooshed” over the battlefield and that was it? Or was it a different game?
I checked, no rules out for them yet.
It does feel weird to have fast-attack craft like X-wings within such a small area; that’s about all they could do is whoosh by for strafing runs.
I feel like Battletech used to have flyers that just zipped by with no minis, but I only ever watched my brother play that one back in the day.
Actually BT has extra rules for flyers and even space combat. Plus the scale is such, that a normal fighter would be tiny in comparison to a 100t mech. BT has mechs, infantry, armoured vehicles, navy, space battels and fighters.
I think people will buy these as collectables, not actually to use in game.
I can see that for fighters that are not available as models already but X-Wing and TIE Fighters are so readily available is shapes, sizes and levels of detail you’re really spoiled for choice. Bandai and Revell both have multiple kits.
x-wing and tie-fighter maybe … and I think the x-wing is the only one at 1:56 scale (or at least close enough)
They could make for fun objectives if the price is right, but then these are the guys that sold that crashed escape pod and a bunker for ungodly amounts of money.
yeah, that and diorama set pieces.
I suspect the price will be extortionate. AMG are not cheap at the best of times.
While cool looking , the price will be the deciding factor . If I don’t need to sell a kidney to get a couple , might be nice to get a couple of X wings & Ties and play out some of the X-Wing starter box games on the pool table , once I recalculate the movement rulers to the larger size
Oh, for God’s sake. Why? Why are game companies allergic to using logic when it comes to scale? Fast attack aircraft in a game like Legion is idiotic, and the models are gonna be $100+ a pop, I bet.
Just makes me wanna slam my head on my desk.
I can only think back to the full scale toys where the Xwing could open/close into attack position and the TIE fighter foils could be blown off. Take some more recent remakes, modify the underside as needed and perch on a flying base. Sound kits are optional
tanks barely work at this scale …
so what the heck are any kind of fast movers going to do, unless you rent a football field to play a game ?
