Victrix Miniatures Reveal Contents Of New Pillage Introductory Set

Victrix Miniatures have now revealed the contents of the Dark Ages/Early Medieval Pillage Introductory Set, which allows you to dive into this 28mm scale skirmish wargame from Noodle Wargames.

This set gives you, as the name might suggest, an introductory taster of what Pillage is like as a game. This revolves around the Starter Booklet, which acts as a light version of the main rulebook, teaching you the mechanics of the game from the ground up, alongside a set of simple scenarios for you to play through.

On the one side of things, you have the Vikings who have been tasked with doing a bit of raiding (how unlike them). They are the ones that are going to have to charge in there and steal the cattle from the Irish! You'll find there's an interesting balance of weaponry between the two sides as well, with the Vikings having access to the likes of the Danish axe and that heavier armour whilst the Irish have more ranged weapons at their disposal.

The Sprues contain enough miniatures for you to build eight Vikings and six Irish Warriors. A good selection of figures to get you started without being overwhelming. In addition to the miniatures for both sides, you'll also find some terrain for you to fight over. This could represent a small Irish farmstead somewhere which has been set up to watch over the cattle.

As well as the Huts, which are new plastic kits for this Introductory Set, you'll also get some Wattle Fences which give you somewhere for the animals to be held before they get "liberated" by the Vikings.

The aforementioned pillagable loot is also included as part of the collection from Victrix. You'll get some of their neat cattle figures alongside other animals that the Vikings are hoping to carry away with them. The scenarios will be focused around the looting side of things, so it won't just be straight-up killfests that you're having to dive into.

As mentioned above, this Introductory Set comes with everything for you to get started in this Dark Age wargame. You get all of the required miniatures but also all of the other gubbins that are required for playing a wargame.

Poster, Token Sheets & Play Mat // Pillage

That means a double-sided play mat that you can see above, plus all of the tokens. They're not pictured here but the box also comes with dice, so you're not going to be stuck on that front either. The post features artwork by Even Amundsen and inside the booklet, you'll also find illustrations by Prosper Tipaldi and Johnny Schumate.

As well as a new option for introducing players to Pillage, Victrix also teased some new material coming for veterans. There will be a new compendium with nineteen new scenarios in it that will be free to download. This will feature scenarios like fighting a bear to steal its honey, banquet brawls and more. More will be added to this compendium over time, enhancing the options you have for Pillage.

Coming back to this boxed set. Victrix are saying that it will be £42.50 and should, all being well, be available to pre-order in the next couple of weeks.
