Some nice Dettol burns you’re sporting there Andy. 😀
I really like this model, and its definitely one of the ones that are on the shopping list when I start warmachine. Something about the way he’s flicking the coat back to get his pistol makes me think of Captain Mal from Firefly.
Oh man, I’m glad I didn’t paint this model yet, I’m totally going to give him a brown coat, Captain Mal style. 🙂
Very cool model, even though the cloak’s wider on one side… A cinematic style common to many minis. I’d paint him !
It’s a great video, and a nice personal story…
Thank you for sharing !
I like this model far more than Junior and use Jerimiah Kraye. Going to proxy him because he’s a good match with coat and goggles and kit. Even his armour and pouches match. He’ll make a far better lieutenant to Kraye.
How do you use Rutger to get the most out of him and his jack? I find that his drive is more trouble than good, if he’s using the drive it means the jack is going to move in to attack, ,but he gets flanking bonuses, which makes him a beast in melee… how do you guys use him? It looks to me like he wants a cheap light jack (iv been using the talon) to make HIMSELF better, the jack is just there to provide flanking bonus.
Well it’s a combo actually. Having Rutger with a Jack like the Talon or Vanguard is a like having a small squad that feeds of each others synergy that make it a bit of a challenge to your opponent. Very cool indeed. Thanks Andy. BTW my first model in WM was good old Captain Bartolo Montador (Very Spanish/Portuguese kind of name IMO :-))
The bit on the end of his sword (that makes it look like it’s still sheathed) actually looks more in-place when you look at his artwork. There’s this darker bar of metal running down the middle of the blade that widens out to cover the whole tip. Could be the rune plate for whatever mechanikal abilities the sword has (it’s got runes engraved on it, at least).
Shame the model only has the end-bit moulded onto it. You might be able to add the rest of the plate in with some creative painting or maybe a really thin line of green stuff.
I’m playing with the idea of Shaw w pCaine, marshaling a Mule. It’s a lot of points and a lot of focus, but if Shaw Drives the Mule for an attack reroll, and boosts it’s attack roll as a marshal, pCaine can Snipe and Deadeye the Mule as well. That’s four dice to hit with the Steam Lobber at 16 inches, and a reroll if you don’t crit on the first roll. I haven’t played it yet, but it seems like it could be good times.
As someone new to the world of Warmachine & Hordes I’m loving these vids Andy. Very informative and providing some ideas for how when I can start to get games in. Please keep ’em coming….
Also, my first PP mini was the Iron Kingdoms Alexia Ciannor (saw some painted examples on line and just thought it was a gorgeous mini), for Hordes it was Baldur the Stonesoul, whilst my first Warmachine pick was the gloriously macho Drake MacBain……
