Little more than a skull in a suit of steam-powered armour, Asphyxious is nevertheless a powerful spellcaster and terrifying presence on the battlefield.
Andy has a look at Asphyxious, Iron Lich, a warcaster for the Cryx faction of Warmachine.
I love the beard. I really do !
Oh, and I like Asphyxious a lot. I have him portraying a bad guy in a D&D game I’m running. Maybe I’ll start out Warmachine with him… He sounds like my kind of warcaster. Would you recommend Cryx for a beginner, though, as opposed to the other factions ?
Can you start out with the awesome Retribution faction even though they don’t have a starter ?
The Cryx Battlebox isn’t as “beginner friendly” as the other boxes as you really need to have an idea of how the Warcaster’s spells work in order to win. In that regard, it’s probably the most rewarding once you get the hang of it.
The Retribution are great, but you really need to choose wisely when starting out… I’ll start a thread on the Retribution group giving a list of some good balanced starter sets for the Elves.
I’ve been waiting for this video for a long time. I was curious to see his stats and what he could do. Always liked the look of the old model, but this one is far better and less weedy than the other one. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to play Cryx or Cygnar. Now it’s Cryx without a doubt.
Gaspy is the reason I got interested in WM, loved the figure and really like the eGaspy scuplt as well. His fluff is cool, shame he so full of cheese for friendly play. Gonna have to pick him up once battlebox sorted
Great video, Andy. Although you never mentioned his Cull Soul ability and how that lets him get even *more* Focus. Granted, compared to his feat another three points is almost a drop in the bucket, but that’s at least another casting of Breath of Corruption And Gaspy’s got the DEF and ARM to safely get close enough to harvest souls.

I can tell the difference is you’ve lost some weight, right?
Great video Andy and thanks for the tip to kill a warcaster, I will try it on my mates Protectorate of Menoth army =P
