Flashgitz are going all-in on Space King as they bring their rampantly meme-filled animation to the tabletop with SPACE KING: The Board Game. Play as the beloved (don't think that's the right word...) Psycho Warriors as they kill aliens, loot corpses and then stab each other in the back for the favour of Space King.

SPACE KING The Board Game - Flashgitz

SPACE KING: The Board Game // Flashgitz

Space King: The Board Game is a two-to-four player semi-cooperative board game where you'll play as one of the Psycho Warriors, diving into all manner of different scenarios and objectives. Semi-cooperative is key here because you'll all need to work together (boring) to make sure that you can kill all of the aliens that have dared to look in your general direction but only one of you can truly bask in the glory of Space King. So, it's a balancing act between slaughtering the enemy and making sure that you shoot your "friends" in the back at the right time.

How It's Played // SPACE KING: The Board Game

As well as Space King: The Board Game being a straight-up murderfest of the highest order, there are also plenty of tactical choices to be made in the game. As well as attacking with your melee and ranged weapons, you'll also be making sure that you've got enough Tactics Cards to pull off shenanigans, which could be to aid other players or stitch them right up.

Enemies in the game are then governed by a Command Deck that will guide you as to what certain enemies will do and who they'll attack. The current player normally decides just how the enemy will act, which should always be to your benefit, of course! Death isn't the end either. The Psycho Warriors always have a good supply of boys on hand - well, hopefully, so you could get back up again and continue with the fighting.

The game also boasts an Event Deck, which could throw all manner of spanners (oh, I liked that) in the works and change up how a scenario is playing out. If you'd like to check out how the game works, you can read the rulebook HERE and watch the video above.

SPACE KING: The Board Game - Pledges

When it comes to pledge options, you've got a few choices but we'll just show off two of them here.

Recruit Pledge - SPACE KING The Board Game

The Recruit Pledge will get you started with a myriad of different enemies and, of course, plenty of Psycho Warriors to make sure they all die horrible and painful deaths. At the other end of the scale, you've also got Super Psycho Warrior Pledge, which gives you a whole host of additional goodies and expansion content.

More is being unlocked through the Stretch Goals that are being hammered very quickly as the campaign builds. They are currently at precisely £2,044,163 at the time of writing this article and I can't imagine this stopping anytime soon. They still have twenty-four days left on the campaign!

Could you be tempted to bring the (mis)adventures of the Psycho Warriors and Space King to the tabletop? It actually looks like it could be a half-decent game as well as being a nice vehicle for people to get their hands on some Space King miniatures.
