Dungeon Saga by flatbattery

We start off this week having a look at the work of flatbattery, who has been powering through something from their backlog for the Spring Clean Hobby Challenge, something that is a focal point of a lot of these projects right now!

Dungeon Saga #1 by flatbattery

They had an urge to dive into the challenge and locked eyes on the very first thing that was sitting in front of them in their room. It turns out Dungeon Saga has been sitting unpainted for a while and so flatbattery decided to start turning those plastic miniatures into a fully painted collection for use in the game.

Dungeon Saga #2 by flatbattery

By their own admission, Dungeon Saga has been sitting unpainted and unplayed for two years and it seems like now is a good time to dive in and do something about that. The idea throughout has been to try and match their skill level to what they expect from the outcome and I like that flatbattery also put into place some plans early on as to how they were going to approach this.

They are going to power through the minis and then spend a bit more time on the characters but if they get bored, they will switch to painting up some scenery instead. They are aiming to try and get it all done by the end of the challenge.

Dungeon Saga #3 by flatbattery

I think that flatbattery has set themselves an achievable challenge and as well as being a nice showcase as what they have painted so far, using Speed Paints to get things done quickly, this is also a way for me to focus flatbattery's attention and get them working through even more of the miniatures! I can't wait to see how the rest of this set looks once it has been finished.

Leman Russ Tanks by almostsilentbob

Next up, we're seeing some classic Leman Russ Battle Tanks getting painted up for use in games of Warhammer 40,000. almostsilentbob has done a sterling job on a set of three Leman Russ Battle Tanks alongside a whole host of other Warhammer 40,000 bits and bobs from the past, all waiting to be brought to the tabletop.

Leman Russ Tanks #1 by almostsilentbob

The basis for this particular project has been a return to Warhammer 40,000 after a few years. A lot of their miniatures were undercoated and painted in all sorts of different ways and so this was a good way for them to dive back in and get the miniatures painted up and ready for the tabletop once again.

With the advent of the new edition being a callback to almostsilentbob's initial foray into Warhammer 40,000 AND the Spring Clean Hobby Challenge running right now, it is as if the fates have come together to make this project a reality.

This also marked an impressive moment in almostsilentbob's hobby life in that they actually finished something! The Leman Russ tanks are looking great and will act as the first platoon for this expanding army. It took them a while but they are happy with the results and I totally agree. I think the weathering also works really well and brings the vehicles together.

almostsilentbob has also said that there are some bonus internet points for anyone who can work out what the battle honours transfer means on the tanks. If you've got some ideas as to what they mean, make sure to drop your thoughts in the comments down below.

Guards of Traitor's Toll by jeffersonpowers

Last but not least, we're having a look at what jeffersonpowers has been doing. They have been getting stuck into Guards of Traitor's Toll and painting up a range of very colourful characters.

Guards of Traitors Toll #1 by jeffersonpowers

These miniatures come from an assortment of different places. Some of them are made from the plastic sets for Guards of Traitor's Toll but there are also figures from Midlam Miniatures in here, a few figures from Footsore and others as well. What I love about Guards of Traitor's Toll and, particularly the painting by jeffersonpowers, is that this shows off how bright and colourful the game can be.

Guards of Traitors Toll #2 by jeffersonpowers

Guards of Traitor's Toll sets itself up as something a little more whimsical than the traditional Fantasy game. It's not grim, it's a bit silly and has a touch of the Discworld about it. I think jeffersonpowers has followed through on that vibe and I think the characterful painting of these figures is fantastic. It's a wonderful look.

Guards of Traitors Toll #3 by jeffersonpowers

What's nice is that jeffersonpowers has done all sorts of painting here, covering the various townsfolk that wander the streets, the guards that are watching over them and a few other dramatis personae that might end up showing up here and there during games. jeffersonpowers also has an excellent set of terrain to use for their games and the next step after all of this painting is going to be diving into some adventures.
