Monkey About As A Sailsman With Freebooter’s Cursed Pirates

Freebooter Miniatures produce one of the best ranges of Fantasy Pirates (and pirates, full stop) in the wargaming world. So, it would make sense that they would pay homage to one of the greatest pirate games of all time. They recently did this with the introduction of Cal C. Calman.

Cal C. Calman is a shrewd businessman who always has a good nose for a deal and has most definitely not been in prison multiple times. He's a "Sailsman" of some renown (sea what I did there? I did it again! I'm on a roll). This brilliant miniature was sculpted by Jan Gawlik and painted by Adam Benesz.

As well as being a great nod to the impressive arm-waving abilities of Stan S. Stanman from the Monkey Island games, he is also a great addition to your crew in games of Freebooter's Fate.

His constantly flailing arms will get on everyone's nerves and make sure that they are suitably distracted when you're getting into the sticky business of swashbuckling. Maybe you could solve your problems with a bit of insult sword fighting instead? I love that Benesz was able to get his lurid coat just right, although it needs to be slightly more psychedelic, I think!

Arrr'chibald is the finest pirate that the seven seas have ever seen and he's willing to back that up. Well, he will try but fate will most likely intervene in order to make sure that he comes out the other side. He has a fierce hatred of porcelain and often finds himself talking to animated, demonic skulls who never shut up.

When he gets into a sticky situation, Chuckeline ends up bailing him out.

When Arrr'chibald and Chuckeline come together, they will be able to take on any challenge. She's also a daring and impressive pirate/politician (same thing, right?) in her own right and her powers of persuasion might be enough to bring you over to her side.

Last but not least, we have the fearsome Captain Ronbert!

As a wonderful nod to the creator of Monkey Island, Ron Gilbert, Captain Ronbert is your stand-in for the fearsome and demonic pirate LeChuck! He is after the heart of Chuckeline and he will stop at nothing to get it! He is even the arch-enemy of Arrr'chibald, so you can set up some interesting confrontations on the tabletop.

Arrr'chibald was sculpted by Krysa, Chuckeline by Justina Bien and Captain Ronbert by Israel Delgado Laborda and they all look brilliant. A perfect reason to start coming up with some fun reasons why you need to buy these and have them in your life.
