Scribbs’ Incidental Diversions

It’s taken me a little while to get around to painting up the very last figure for my Evil Dwarfs, which was this boar centaur. Paint scheme followed the others, although I was a bit stumped on the back banner design. Eventually I decided to go with a bunch of oldhammer staples – check patterns, dog teeth and flames.

Here’s the last few of my evil dwarf models. I’ve already shared the standard bearer, but here’s the rest of the command group – a musician, and two leaders. The chap in the middle with the cloak is supposed to be the big boss, but I think the one with the big hat gives off slightly more impressive vibes.

Next to join my evil dwarfs is a pair who have recieved some dubious gifts from the dark gods.

The shield design for the beast-dwarf was very much made up on the fly. I didn’t really have a plan when I started, so I began messing around with sketching out an eight-pointed star, then a sun, but ended up with a tentacled eye-thing. Sometimes you just need to doodle and see what turns up as an end result.

More progress with my evil dwarfs, they now have a flag to muster under.

It took two attempts to finish the banner for this chap. I made a complete mess of the flag dimensions first time around, as the image below shows. I’m still not sure how I made such a mistake on the measurements, but on the positive side I have a spare flag ready in case of need.

Another trio of these dwarfs, all carrying chunky two-handed weapons. There’s a bit of the classic modifying an initial sculpt to diversify the figures going on here, which is part of the charm of the sculpts.

These evil little chaps come from a Kickstarter run last year. They are sculpted by Mikko Luoma and produced by Knightmare Miniatures.

Very characterful metal sculpts that lean hard into the charm of oldhammer figures.

Few more of these to come, which is good as I had a lot of fun painting these up.

A few more Meridian Miniatures, this time a set of folklore figures based on a collaboration with Sineater that was Kickstarted about a year ago.

I wanted to attempt a reduced colour palette for these, and felt like an autumnal set would be fun to try. Quite happy with the final outcome (although struggling to get decent photos thanks to poor light at this time of the year!).
