Vostroyan Firstborn Are Returning To Warhammer 40,000!
May 8, 2026 by brennon
Originally released back in 2026, the Vostroyan Firstborn are now returning to Warhammer 40,000 as Games Workshop announce that they are going to be coming back on a Made To Order basis for a short time.
Vostroyan Platoon // Warhammer 40,000
The biggest collection of Vostroyans will come as part of this Vostroyan Platoon, which comes with a whole host of classic Imperial Guard miniatures in lovely metal. This set features a Command Squad complete with a Commander, Veteran Guardsman with master vox, Standard Bearer and one Veteran Guardsman with medi-pack.
The set also comes with twenty Vostroyan Guardsmen, which include a Sergeant with power swords, another with a powerfist, a Guardsman with a plasma gun and another with a grenade launcher. You then get three Vostroyan Lascannon Teams, which are dedicated to punching holes in enemy armour on the battlefield.
Individual Vostroyan Firstborn Releases
A lot of the miniatures are also available separately in different packs. For example, you can also get the Vostroyan Command set separately.
Vostroyan Command // Warhammer 40,000
This contains the miniatures from the above set but means if you're already flush with old metal Vostroyans from the original release, you can just snap up this pack and you're good to go. I really like the addition of so much chainmail into their armour, hammering home that Sci-Fantasy vibe of Warhammer 40,000. The Standard Bearer also looks awesome and hard as nails! He is giving off some tough-as-old-leather Cossack vibes.
Sticking with the Commanders, you can also get three others as part of the Made To Order run.
Vostroyan Commander with Chainsword // Warhammer 40,000
Vostroyan Commander with Power Fist // Warhammer 40,000
Vostroyan Commander with Power Sword // Warhammer 40,000
Each of them comes with different weapon loadouts, from a power sword through to a power fist and a chainsword. You also have a mix of different pistols with a bolt pistol, laspistol and plasma pistol in the mix, depending on the preference of the commander. Some more brilliant designs and ones that don't feel like they'd be out of place next to the modern miniatures by Games Workshop!
If you're on the opposite end of the spectrum and you've already got commanders, you can also pick up the Vostroyan Squad separately.
Vostroyan Squad // Warhammer 40,000
This comes with a squad of lasgun-armed soldiers, plus your leader with a chainsword and bolt pistol. The set also comes with a trooper with a flamer at the ready to torch your enemies and drive them out of cover. If you want more special weapons, they are also going to be available as part of the Made To Order run...
Vostroyan Guardsman with Grenade Launcher // Warhammer 40,000
Vostroyan Guardsman with Flamer // Warhammer 40,000
Vostroyan Guardsman with Plasma Gun // Warhammer 40,000
You can have options for another Guardsman with a flame, another with a grenade launcher and a third with a plasma gun for when things get real. If you need to take out targets from long range, you can also get a set of Snipers who are going to be hunting around in those ruins, Enemy At The Gates style.
Vostroyan Guardsman with Sniper Rifles // Warhammer 40,000
All of the old Vostroyan miniatures look absolutely amazing. So much effort went into this regiment and it had such a short amount of time on the shelves! If you're looking to build a very distinctly different Astra Militarum regiment, this would be the one to go for. They are stunning.
Last but not least, we have a set of three weapon teams for you to play around with, laying down covering fire and sending the enemy running for cover.
Vostroyan Heavy Bolter Team // Warhammer 40,000
Vostroyan Lascannon Team // Warhammer 40,000
Vostroyan Mortar Team // Warhammer 40,000
You have some great options for a Heavy Bolter (that drum mag is excellent!), a lascannon and then a mortar. They all come with a unique crew as well. I love the fellow covering his ears as the mortar round fires and the other fellow ranging in the lascannon to blast that enemy tank to smithereens!
All of the Vostroyan Firstborn will be made available as Made To Order products very soon. As Games Workshop has stated, they will fit in as alternatives for your standard Cadians but I'd love to see folks come up with a specific Detachment and rules for the Vostroyans to match the regiment and how it works in the lore.
What do you make of these returning Vostroyans?
