2026 Better late than never

So I had the first 2 days of the Oz Spring off and spent the time wisely painting Dwarf miners.

I just realised that I haven’t posted for August yet. So on this final day of the winter of Oz, and before we enter the hot seasons (it will be 28 degrees celcius this weekend) and the wildlife go crazy (Magpies are already getting frisky), I have repainted Dwarf Artillery and some Chaos Skin Wolves that I picked up at the last Australian GW Games Day (2013).

I also did some Irondrakes. For reasons that elude me I never had these in my 8th Ed Dwarf army.

I’ve been playing a bit of Old World lately and by contrast I never play AoS (in fact I may haver played 2 games in however many editions) so seemed like time to return everything to square bases (like God intended).

So I’m currently in the middle of a big project for the Old World (partially visable in the background of the first photot). As a bit of a palette clenser I occassionally drop out to paint a gang sized force from a different game. I had the Rogue Trader Kill Team still on sprue so I took a week to put it together and paint it. Some nice figures in the team and the doggo has left me wanting to paint the Judges (Arbites) if only for the doggo.

April was quite productive. I bought a 3D Printer and went down a deep dark rabbit hole. I started with some Fallout Vertibirds, a tank and a couple of APCs. That led to an idea for an army of power armoured troops for Fallout (the Brotherhood),  US Heavy Infantry in K’47 and Marines for OPR. I painted up 20 power armoured troops and some sample light troops. I like the results a lot.

Painting this week was delayed by a quick trip across the pond to New Zealand. In honour of a mate who is a massive LotR fan and who had turned 55 and a half, (half way to his 111th birthday,) we took him to Hobbiton and the 2 Weta studios. For scale, one of the lads is 6’5′ and I’m 6’2′. I’m not sure they expected us to try to get in the beds or baths.

Back to painting. So the Slayers needed a leader and you might as well go as hard as you can – ‘Youngrim’.  It’s a really nice model to paint.

I also had a Centurion Marshal from Warcry (such a great and underrated game) that I’ve square based so that I can use it as a Shaggoth in Old World.

So a little more Chaos. Chaos Legionaires used as either Maurauder Hascarls or Chaos Warriors before I add a General to my slayer army

So I’m on a bit of a roll so I grabbed some really old Nurgle Heroes (last week I did the palanquin) and the newer version of it called the Harbringer of Nurgle. The size differential is considerable even allowing for some extremely tactical rocks. Both painted with multi coloured tabards and shields as I’d like to think that they are fallen Bretonnians. The smaller one is Blue, yellow and white, I just cant be bothered with that many photos.

Whilst I was there I decided to paint the Warhammer TV wizard mini I got a couple of years ago.

All square based just like God intended.
