We’re five sessions in and everyone seems to be enjoying the game. However, I am finding that the miniatures, nice as they are, just aren’t all that useful in the game. The combat system is pretty loose and doesn’t really need maps or miniatures — at best they’re visual aids and at worst they’re table decorations that obstruct access to the ridiculous array of snacks my players usually bring.

It could be that in this case, Gerry’s right and miniatures aren’t needed in a roleplaying game. But I’m looking at these models and the lovely hex maps that came in the box set, and I’m thinking there might be a simple skirmish game that could be cobbled together with this stuff…
