I also acquired a 2inch brush for this project as I needed something bigger than my largest brush. Both side by side in this picture although I did use the smaller one for the hard to reach places
The painted pallisades dry brushed with lighter shades of brown lightened with a neutral gray the final highlight a dry brush of neutral gray. 
After some serious dry brushing, some use of some thinned grey speed paints and some strong tone I have reached this stage on the tower.
Excellent project, nice to see someone else using some miniaturelands stls in anger. I printed one of his elven tree houses.
