Of Oil and Iron - A Salute Discovery
Kitbash fun. The Pickelhaube Light rig.
The Pickelhaube Mercenary rig or “Frankenstein’s tin soldier” as its enemies mockingly called it, never went into full production. It was an effort to use refinery parts and a captured Triton Engineering rig warehouse complex to fashion a workable cheap rig class of their own. Only seeing a couple of prototypes before being abandoned the project has been classed as a failure. But those that survive still carry weapons to their enemy effectively and are easy to adapt and repair. For example on this rig a foot was blown off and some clever engineer fashioned pincers as a workable foot.
The minis for this game come with lots of weapon options. But then some had spare legs for different poses I guess. I had a spare foot and spare arm pieces. All I needed was a main body and some connecting pieces and I was away. I kept some sprues from 15mm tanks and those parts really helped. The helmet came from some automaton minis I am building, made by the same company, and the top of the body is a can ring pull. The body is a diabetic needle casing. It's all a bit fragile, but a lot of fun to bodge together. It's a bit taller than I hoped, but not taller than most of the minis I already have.
