The original cover of Armies of Death grabbed my attention as a child. Thats what i call a bad ass ork. He's armed to the teeth and standing on his defeated foes, flying the flag for villains everywhere. He even has an arrow sticking out of him. Chris Achilleos did a great job. I had a poster of the cover on my bedroom wall. The 2003 cover isn't as great for me. I remember getting excited when I realised Ian livingstone had written this as a sequel to trial of champions. Agglax the shadow demon and his undead army need to be stopped. Obviously know kingdom is going to bother stopping him so it's up to you. The nook adds mass combat with armies, something expanded on in the allansia book gorcthe rpg. The story itself is a bit bland and the sesrch for the Oracles advice is livingstone just taking the piss. Every wrong turn is instant death. I didn't enjoy this book as an adult as much as 12 year old me. The army idea is good but could have been used more and the story goes a bit flat near the end but I liked the continuation of the trial of champions I didn't enjoy this book as an adult as much as 12 year old me.
