I have a Games Workshop model now in the ranks of my personal armies that had not been intended. One of the guys at my FLGS was giving away his collected GW High Elves to another member of the regular gang. He offered me an assembled Frostheart phoenix as he was also giving away a Flamespyre phoenix. I immediately took him upon on the offer (if it’s free, its for me after all) and saw the cost of replacing the head as a bargain when compared to buying a new kit. I had no love for the stupid looking jewel helmet and view this as a great competitor piece to the phoenix of my Harryhausen Hellenics. Beyond just the fire and ice birds these two armies of ladies juxtapose nicely between those armored and those wearing nothing at all.

I took the inspiration for the plumage from male kestrels. I thought that the brown and blue-grey was striking in a way that was different from a peregrine falcon and decided to run with it.
