I’ve purchased two resin sloops so far for this project. I basically painted them with a combination of normal paint, washes and contrasts. These were pretty quick and easy to paint. I still have the masts to paint and add, though I don’t plan to use the resin masts that came with the two sloops. My plan is to use some balsa dowl for the masts as they’ll be a bit more durable.

This project sets out to create a complete 15mm pirate wargaming force using Old Glory miniatures, bringing the Golden Age of Piracy to the tabletop.

Starting with a collection of 15mm Old Glory pirates, sailors and Royal Navy figures, we’ll build, paint and base the forces before creating the terrain needed for our games. Alongside the miniatures, we’ll explore ships, coastal settlements, docks, jungles, forts and other scenery that can bring the pirate world to life.

The project will feature a mixture of naval actions, boarding assaults, raids, treasure hunts and battles ashore, using a range of scenarios and rules to explore what makes pirate gaming such an entertaining period.

The aim is to demonstrate how a relatively affordable collection of 15mm miniatures can be transformed into a complete pirate gaming project, combining colourful miniatures, atmospheric terrain and exciting tabletop adventures.
