First Entries In The Painting Competition Enter The Cabinets
Before the main doors open, the competition opens to the traders for entries.
12 Categories available for entries with the most entries in the Single Sci-fi and Single Fantasy categories.

Painting Competition with Peachy
We take some time with Peachy from the community to find out how the Painting Competition is going along at Salute.
Representing History
Historical categories are getting some love today, here is a few snaps of some infantry.
Favorite for me is the crossbowmen with the free-handed shields and Command stand.
The cabinets are filling up and spectators are 2 deep taking a look, so getting crisp photo's isn't as easy as I'd hope... More to come!

Over 200 entries, with nearly 30 awards for 1st place and runner up, Stefan Johnsson won 7, including best in Show for "The Hunt"
Other highlights were the Father and Daughter combo from the Lifton family, and other multiple winner, Robert Karlsson and Ruben Torregrose.

The girl with the gas mask is really good, but the flames of war German convoy is my choice of those first pictures. Its not as technical or complicated as the NMM Stormcast or that girl, but the overall picture just works, with the landscape and so in placing it in context. Very effective.
Very nice, looking forward to seeing them in the flesh (or plastic, resin, metal and acrylic) when I get there.

In the first group, the bust of the armoured guy with red and white… is that supposed to be rain falling on him? A very difficult thing to portray in miniature.

Don’t envy anyone judging this competition. I really can’t make up my mind on what I like in any of the categories.
Congratulation for Ruben Torregrosa, I still remember his tips about weathering tanks… Really deserved prize 😉

Wow, as a speedy painter who just reaches tabletop level I can just admire those breathtaking pieces of art…awesome!
The legion fellblade looked really clean from a distance but up close the weathering and subtle shading was amazing, the Night Haunter was epic too

Hi @badula, it doesn’t, but with 40k being the most popular sci- f.i game,

Finally recovered enough to log on 🙂 so, the Painter I couldn’t remember is Andy Wardle, who ended up winning with the fellblade.
Judging, well I can tell you from a Birdseye veiw that it was TOUGH, each judge had guidance notes on, technique, atmosphere etc. (If I told you the details we could all me finalists next year… The judges are very open in their comments and gave me some useful tips on improving my painting style, like making them higher contrast and enphasiing shading.
It was great to cover it for a second year and @brennon and @lloyd hinted they wanted me back next year too 😉
