The discussion was around the idea that if we found out aliens were real and we had established contact with them, how would that affect sci-fi gaming? Would it no longer be the fun escapism we see now? Would it feel a bit “close to home”, like some people feel about modern historical games etc.
To quote in the ‘Last Christmas’ episode for Doctor Who :
“There’s a horror movie named Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everybody keeps invading you.”
And considering all the nonsense we’re having about Saint Nicolas and Black Pete …
I am sure that almost every game would be considered ‘racist’ or ‘offensive’ (or both) once actual first contact happens.
And that’s before the aliens themselves are asked …
…you need to swot up on the Extraterrestrial Exposure Law! Wouldn’t you have thought that by now they would have learned eveything then need from probing bottoms? I don’t think it is scientific at all.

This reminds me of the Gremlins thread on reddit, humans go into space only to find we are the smallest in a land of giants. https://www.reddit.com/r/HFY/wiki/series/the_gremlins
