GW has done it before … except those lore things were always near the end of an edition, so they were out-of-date the moment they were printed. Of course GW being GW the extra rules and lore were bloated crap that became obsolete the moment the new version was announced.

As a result even if you wanted to care you couldn’t use what was published …
