Read all of this before you start as it will save you any trouble later.

First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.

You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.

If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.

A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil. This includes no philosophy, no home computer culture wars.

Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.

Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)

Well, I probably do “too much” in that regard. Let me see if I can write down a list.

• Hobby Blog https://www.warmonger.de/

• YouTube and PeerTube channels
• Twitch Channel https://www.twitch.tv/sundancerge
• Picture sharing on PixelFed
• Maintaining local gaming clubs website, forum and discord. (and facepage page and Instagerm accout)

Looks like a lot but when looking closer the work gets less. The *Tube channels are fed mainly with recordings from Twitch so that’s one evening feeding three outlets. Pictures shared on PixelFed are usually the same I put in the projects here and in articles I write up for my blog.

Plus everything is done “on a whim”. Rarely any bigger planning is done and most of my videos and podcasts are one shots. I usually don’t do many edits and reshoots XD

Pledge: Getting kinda pointless making one. I follow my mood and the weather. Nothing really demands my attention lately.

I hobby for me. Sometimes my players appreciate my efforts, but I enjoy writing, I paint minis I need or want, build terrain I feel a need for.

Wouldn’t know where to start with a blog or youtube channel and the prospect that maybe no one cares enough to look would discourage me from maintaining it.

Pledge: I’m actually really happy with where I’m at hobby-wise. Currently working on a ridiculous new pile of Crisis Protocol models, with little breaks to do smaller projects (or even just single models) from the pile of potential.

Question: I post about my hobby doings in a few places, but with absolutely no attempt to monetize, build a “brand,” or any of that nonsense. In addition to the stuff I post here, I post photos of my miniatures and games on Facebook and Instagram, but that’s mainly just me showing off to my friends and family. I also write game reviews in a few places:

Music: I rewatched Bohemian Rhapsody recently, and while I love the film I was a little disappointed that they didn’t touch on Queen’s movie soundtrack work. I would love to have seen a dramatization of the filming of this video:

Only for myself. I used to have a website a long time ago, but it became… tedious. The only place I engage online is actually here.

Pledge , get away from the hobby bench for a few days and watch a couple of the Soviet TV show DVD box sets I’ve bought , I need to read the subtitles as there is no English dub, and trying to paint / build while trying to read the screen doesn’t work . I build tanks and troops  for myself , I don’t even have the urge to play  Bolt Action . Everything  I’ve built are just for my own pleasure of building & painting . I’ve even picked up tanks I’m not really interested in just to build something different , and then I’ll give it to one of my friends who plays . As I like to have multiples of tanks I like ( I mean 10 or 15 , not 2 or 3 ) , I gave away about 30 tanks and probably 100 odd troops to friends when I moved in May  . I have a little less space in the new digs , plus I had a couple of troop boxes and new release tanks on order . If I get a new plastic  kit and one of my friends has some of the older resin models of the same vehicle , I’ll strip them down for him  , repaint / decal them and add stowage and crew if wanted . Sort of assembly line it . I’ve think I’ve done 4 Valentines , 5 Lee / Grants and a couple of Italian tin cans since Christmas . That way I can paint a more exotic scheme than the Normandy / Eastern Front 1944 tanks I like and I don’t have to keep it.

Its has to be over ten years on this site and I still haven’t figured out how to post music videos , mind you  I really I don’t care to learn how . Go listen to some Sabaton

As far as hobby I do it to make stuff look good for me and now show off in public as I have found a game I like playing. I’m trying to curate a SAGA community but it seems like the majority of what people are playing is compact and immediately recognizable IP in HALO and then Kings of War. At the moment I think I’ll just start giving away armies that I’ve collected after some are painted. It’ll clear up space, give someone a good gift and hopefully start someone into hobby/gaming.

Pledge:  I need to choose a Kings of War faction and get painting.  Hopefully something will also be suitable for the PaintComp.

Answer:  I think engagement of any sort is important.  If we like the hobby we should want there to be as much of it as possible.  Ultimately that is a personal choice.  I’ve seen some concerning stuff from active content makers who use hobby for their income and find the mental challenges too difficult.

I probably spend as much time engaging in person as I do online.  My local hobby group is quite active and there is at least one game a week.  We are also keen on going to wargames shows.  There are only two locally where we often put on a demo game.  We like a road trip and get a small group together to go to further afield including Partizan and Warfare last year.  This year I was at Salute and will go to Warfare again.  Other than blogging here I don’t have much under my name other than an active Instagram account.  Many years ago I wrote a few articles in the wargames press and have started to do that again here.

For those looking to engage a bit more I can recommend an excellent weekly hobby show on Twitch too 😉

I think there is a hint of why your offline socials are good. You already have a friend group to start with. I don’t know about others but I only have 2 friends that are actually into miniature wargaming but also have a lot of different other hobbies so getting things lined up is really work at times.
