A Billion Suns: Second Edition Coming December 2026

Osprey Games and Mike Hutchinson are bringing a new edition of Sci-Fi Interstellar Fleet Battles to the tabletop later this year with a Second Edition of A Billion Suns.

This is a revised edition of A Billion Suns, streamlined and with all of the rules for players to dive into leading their fleet through the stars in search of galactic dominance. As well as an update to the rules, it also comes with new missions and modes of play for you to sink your teeth into.
Two to four players can venture into games of A Billion Suns where you command fleets of battleships, destroyers, fighters and more. This takes place in one-off games, campaigns or in new solo battles against the game itself. The idea here is that Hutchinson has made the game more approachable for new players whilst also offering deeper options for veteran players.

If you'd like to know more about the game and its initial inception, you can check out the interview above with the designer, Mike Hutchinson. This is good news for Gerry. It will give him the impetus to finish those fleets he was painting for the first edition of the game, so he can make use of them just in time for the second edition to roll around.

Ugh. Too many games, too little time. I have the first edition of A Billion Suns, and *had* a fleet made from Dropfleet Commander’s Resistance ships, but never played a single game.
Maybe one day…
Heard good things, so I will check out the second edition (plus I love all his games so far).
Also, thank the author for putting a big “SECOND EDITION” up front so we know. The amount of times game publishers don’t put the edition of the game on the front (or even back) of a book is too high.
