Dark Host Army Project

About the Project
Before the sale of Warmachine to Steam Forged Games, I had bought a large allotment of Cryx and Cygnar armies. Normally I have a MK VI Cygnar force, but I would like to put together a Painted Dark Host starting force and have a fun with the collection.

Lord Exhumator Scaverous, Servant of the Dragonfather and leader of the Cryx army
Lord Exhumator Scaverous serves the dragon father by recovering dark secrets.
So the color recipe I have posted before with a combination of a mixed in gray (from Pro Acryl black and Pro Acryl White) and the old P3 Necrotite green. I used in certain places Pro Acryl’s Dark Blue which I find has a grayish tinge to it for highlights on the various tubes and bits, and the standard recipe of Pro Acryl Bright Gold and Pro Acryl Silver for the different filigree elements. For his weapon I wanted more of a magic feel so I went with Pro Acryl Dark Blue, the gray, and of course some primitive blending of Necrotite Green and Pro Acryl yellow. As an unusual step I took to edge highlighting in the Necrotite green (well the Necrotite green mixed with either white or yellow) Now that my warcaster (general) is done…it is probably hight time I get to some troops !
Oh Erebus
A foreboding warjack to see, Erebus wants carnage and violence. He is the warjack taken often by Lord Exhumator Scaverous. Here I tried to do some justice to the picture given in the Cryx Command book. I used the mix of gray of Pro Acryl White and Pro Acryl Black and a small portion of Pro Acryl Green. The metalics are a mixture of Pro Acryl Silver and Pro Acryl Bright Gold. There is ever so slight shadding with a layer of Pro Acryl Blue mixed with Battlefield Brown (P3). Glow effects are Necrotite Green and Pro Acryl Yellow. He is the second model down in my quest for this army. So progress is made…
First bit of Progress
So I have managed to secure a little time to work on the Cryx models. Here I have gotten a personal mix of Pro-Acryl paints to make a Cryx dark grey. Something that is 2 parts coal black, 2 parts green and maybe 1 part white (roughly). For the teeth the original P3 jack bone, with Pro Acryl Bright White. For the metals I don’t have any more blighted gold, so I mixed together Pro Acryl Bright Gold and Pro Acryl Silver. Unlike when I first did a Deathripper, here I did a little bit of edge highlighting with a lighter shade of my Cryx Gray, and I used a Pro Acryl Dark Blue for some shadding. I used a blend of P3 Necrotite Green and Pro Acryl Bright Yellow. So overall, I am not a great pro-painter and its not a display model, but I am excited for it to be on the table. Well I hope you have enjoyed.
